Poll: GOP heavyweight Sarah Palin would lose in 2012 election against President Barack Obama
New York Daily News ^ | Tuesday, August 18th 2009 | Richard Sisk

Sarah Palin can grab voters' attention whenever she wants, but they're not ready to put her in the White House – not by a long shot.

If the 2012 presidential election were held today, and Palin was the GOP candidate, she’d get wiped out by President Obama, a new Marist poll showed Tuesday.

Only 33% of registered voters would go for Palin compared to Obama’s 56%, with 11% undecided.

Obama would pull in 92% of Democrats and Palin would get 73% of Republicans.

The President would clean Palin’s clock among amost all voting groups.

Independents would go 49% to 34% for Obama, according to the poll of 854 registered voters with a margin of error of 3.5%.

Men went for Obama 54% to 36% and women by a wider margin: 58% to 30%.

Whites favored Obama 50% to 40%, African-Americans by 99% to 1%, and Latinos 62% to 27%.

The only region where Palin held Obama under 50% was the South -- where Obama had 49% to 38% margin.

Then these weren’t even qualified as likely voters.

This has the effect of being a “push poll” even if no push-poll questions were asked. Somebody hired Marist to produce a specific poll result to fit their anti-Palin paradigm that they could then publish to try to damage her. The margin of error in a poll such as this is, in reality, +/- 10, maybe even more.

It’s meaningless. The fact that this smear campaign is still going on tells us just how afraid of Palin they are. They’re spending money to try to damage her even now, and that pretty much says it all.

I'm wondering why Palin is less popular amongst women than men.

Anyone have any ideas?

I wonder how Obama would have polled against McCain in 2005?

True. My point being that a whole lot can happen in a year and a half, let alone three.

In related news, racism is alive an well in the Black community, nearly non-existent in the white voter community.

The Baraqqi coalition is not to be taken lightly no matter how badly they screw things up.

Add up the following groups where he gets 97+% support

minorities
illegals
dead voters
union members
idiot liberals

it doesn’t take too many more to put him over the top

She doesn’t need to run. She just needs to saying things like “Death Panel” and she will bring that phony down.

I have thought for a long time at Palin is totally unelectable, would be lucky to win WY and AK.

I'm with you; that's why I'm supporting Rudy next time around.

From the women I have talked to it amounts to sheer vanity and insecurity.

However, I would vote for Palin. I left vanity and insecurity behind when I was about 16, but some women cannot get past it.

I was about ready to give up on the republicans until they put Palin in last year. All I’ve seen the past several years is the same old crap by the same old guard. I love my country, my children and grandchildren, so I will support Palin in 2012.

That’s right.

George H. Bush had a 91% approval rating after the Gulf War.

A year and a half later, he lost re-election by a substantial margin to Billy Clinton.

What we probably should do is reside ourselves to the fact that we may just get two terms of Obama...

When the stupid people in this country realize they cannot vote for him anymore, that will probably be the only chance to get someone in there...

But by that time there may be too much to fix, and not enough stuff to fix it...

I believe she will turn off the swing voters with her parrot like pablum.
I don't know what you're referring to but if it has anything to do with the McCain/Palin campaign don't forget she was on a leash with a muzzle there... and she still packed in the crowds.

” She’s our greatest foot soldier at the moment, but we will need a general on election day “

Speaking of Generals-How about General Tommy Franks ?
His gravitas would smoke the community organizer’s in a minute.
I hope our foot soldier will start focusing on Afghanistan.
The MSM is obsessed with Barry taking his kids for ice cream cones and Michelle’s latest fashion don’t
and Bo pooping on the White House lawn ( that’s Bo, not BO ),
while Afghanistan is unraveling.

We could run a dishrag for president and get forty percent. We ran McCain and Dole didn’t we?

These people must have two hundred yard long noses, they lie so much.

Yeah, and I also remember how a third-party populist split the vote and in walked Clintoon.
That says more about the weakness of Bush than it does about anything else. There's no guarantee ("a new world order - a thousand points of light - read my lips, no new taxes") Bush would have pulled that one off anyway.
