Saul Alinsky's Rule #8 is the reason the birther issue is important and legitimate
Rules for Radicals ^ | 1971 | Saul Alinsky

Posted on 08/13/2009 12:40:05 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

For all those who are embarrassed by the birther issue, know this: We are just taking a page from hero of the Left, Saul Alinsky's, book 'Rules For Radicals.'

Rule #8: Attack, attack, attack on multiple fronts, and never let up.

They made the rules. We're just following them.

We can beat them at their own game, or we can lose.

That's the choice.

Its not taking anything away from other issues and its a constant irritant for the white house. Also It raises questions about the honesty of this president.

I’ve never understood the Republican strategy of “Choosing the battles”, ala Sotomyer, etc. Since when was there a limit on how many battles you can fight? To do anything less is mamby-pamby and makes you look like you’re not principled upon principle.

Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” begins with an unusual tribute: “From all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins – or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom – Lucifer.”

It also gives us a reason to mock and ridicule the president.

I just love the WND billboards, “Where's the Birth Certificate”. The ebay sale of the Obama birth certificate was very cute. Rush was hilarious with his God and Obama jokes.

These are examples of people doing what they like and having fun doing it.

This does not seem thought through.

Conservatives can't claim the moral high ground and then say "if they're doing it we should do it." One or the other. I'd personally prefer to remain ethical if the alternative is adopting the instruction of Saul Alinsky.

Meanwhile, there's only so much bandwidth conservatives are going to get with their arguments. If the citizenship/birth certificate line of attack becomes dismissed as kooky conspiratorial internet chatter, then conservatives are wasting their time and reputations pursuing it when they really ought to be focused on, say, complaining about the massive, swelling federal government and the atrocious federal debt.

If CNN has time for a six-minute segment on something, I'd rather it be about the need for fiscal responsibility than about whether Barack Obama was born in Kenya. And yes, it does end up coming down to that level of mutual exclusivity. There's only so much room in American public discourse.

I disagree, the reason this is important is because our government officials are to be accountable to “we the people.”
The constitution requires the congress to certify that the president is eligible so somebody dropped the ball.

Thanks for the Hannity links. I couldn’t watch the show and hadn’t had any luck finding a video of it or what the big shocking news was.

Exactly. All battles should be fought or you lose. We can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Right. I've swung back and forth, but the Honolulu Advertiser birth announcement decided it in my mind. However, the fact that he won't release the bc, his medical records, his Occidental College records ALL mounts up to a big coverup for whatever reason and it is NOT "transparency."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Are you insane?

You believe that right wing conservatives should lower themselves to the slimy standards of a democrat?

You believe we can’t compete unless we play their game by their rules?

You believe in chucking our standards out and dumbing down democracy is the ideal way to get ahead?

You think Alinsky should be our role model?

I could go on and on and on with these questions. But hopefully by now - you see the folly of your ways.

“I’d personally prefer to remain ethical if the alternative is adopting the instruction of Saul Alinsky.”

It worked for the left; why not use it against them? Another of Alinsky’s rules is to “use their system against them” (that’s an approximate quote/paraphrase).

I personally see no shame in fighting dirty against an unethical opponent.

“Choosing the battles” is a synonym for “surrender”, which seems to be the strategy for many in the GOP and even some on FR.

What is this about? FOX was supposed to run those 0bama programs on Hannity last Sunday, then pulled them at the last minute without explaining?

They made the rules. We're just following them.

Do you really want to follow the radical left? Arguably, they shot themselves in the foot around the 1968 dimmie convention, and torpedoed Humphrey's chances against Nixon.

Be careful of jumping in to a radical position, and being considered a clown or worse.

What is unethical about this rule?

Here’s a saying: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

On this issue who are the real “kooks?” All the idiots are the ones that HAVE NOT SEEN Barack Hussein Obama’s birth certificate and will tell you “to just let it go.” Those same people, conservatives, liberals, Republicans, Democrats and Independents have been brain washed by the media that Zero has released his “birth certificate.” This is a winning issue for the American people because it is an issue that is upholding the constitution.

Every town hall meeting someone needs to keep hitting our “representatives” with the same question: “Why will Barack Obama not release his birth certificate that shows what hospital he was born in and the citizenship of his parents? With a constitutional requirement to reveal “natural born” status what is he afraid of?”
