MSNBC is having an on air meltdown over a man their camera crew videotaped openly carrying a handgun at an anti-Obama protest in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this morning near where Barack Obama will be holding a town hall meeting later today.
MSNBC showed footage of the man with the gun openly holstered to his right leg. He was holding a large sign with words about the tree of liberty.
The Portsmouth police chief informed MSNBC the man was legally armed.
The man was reportedly standing with a group of protesters on the property of a church.
More as this develops.
Where the hell is MY check?
Here in Michigan, we have open-carry, and concealed licenses.
You don’t need a permit to open-carry, but need a permit to conceal.
Many people are beginning to open-carry as a daily thing, and the LEO’s are starting to get it with the laws.
I don’t think that I would open-carry around ‘Bambi though.
They're going to have to overturn the holding in the recent Supreme Court case, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA ET AL. v. HELLER then.
Held: 1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
That's in the syllabus, rather than the decision itself, but it's also a succinct summary, which was approved by the author of the decision. In any event, Justice Scalia, the author of the opinion, included this phrase:
Putting all of these textual elements together, we find that they guarantee the individual right to possess and carry weapons
But should a new, and liberal, court decide that "right of the people" means "power of the state militias".. well that's the reason for the right in the first place.
It's New Hampshire, they don't need no steenking license (to carry openly). The concealed carry license is "shall issue", the fee is $10 and there is no training requirement.
It probably costs the issuing authority more than $10 to issue the license.
I think perhaps you’ve COMPLETELY misread his comment.
That would be fourth graders, according the title at your link. But the point is still valid. I'd just prefer it be made with accuracy.
Really, I see you don’t list on your home page where you are but what’s wrong with carrying when you live in an open carry State? Unfortunately down here in SC we do not have open carry, only concealed carry but I doubt he’s “showing off”. It’s a right, remember.
Of course deterrence may fail, that's why SAC had *real* nuclear weapons in those bombers and on those missile, in case deterrence failed.
Making average citizens out to be aggressors is exactly what the press and their slavemasters want. Congress is out of control, willfully mischevious and Barrio-bari-uhm and his handlers are the villains here. The fact is that the weasels in Congress know they must end Medicare and Medicaid as we know it and replace it with less expensive palliative and hospice care. If Bario-bari-uhm isn’t able to give his masters what they want, he may be discarded and who better to take the fall than an angry citizen with a firearm? Lee Harvey Oswald was surrounded by law enforcement officers carrying revolvers and that didn’t stop a determined Jack Ruby from getting within range at the magic moment.
Why would you voluntarily disarm yourself when you could carry legally? Are you really eager to be a martyr?
Do you have a link for downloading the bill?
It looks like limits on the package of essential benefits.
Reagan might not have been so sure of that, it was just a "GREAT Thing" that Hinkly only had a .22 revolver.
Nor Ford, two *women* got inside the perimeter in separate instances in September of '75, and one, well known member of the Manson "family, "Squeaky" Fromme", would likely have shot him if she'd had a round in the chamber of her .45 Colt automatic, instead of just a loaded magazine. The second one, Sara Jane Moore, also a Mansonite, was 40 feet away from Ford when she fired a single shot at him, but missed. A bystander, not the Secret Service, tackled her to the ground. That was after she'd phoned in a threat the same day and been picked up. Her .45 was taken, but she was released. She simply bought another one, and pressed on. Her shot ricocheted and injured a bystander.
Maybe so, but it sure does sent a message to the Union goons, which certainly may have been his entire point
Unless a gun is being brandished, only bedwetters (and homos) begins drizzling during daylight hours at the sight of a holstered piece.
Hopefully, but I'm not as confident of that as I once was. At any rate, "be prepared" is still good advice, whether one is a Boy Scout or not.
We need more of this!
Maybe Krissie and Keithie can build enough pressure to rupture their anurisms.
Concealed carrying is one thing, but openly displaying at an event like this plays right into the left’s hands.
Poor judgement, IMO.
