While Dobbs says he believes that Obama was born in the United States, he's also pushed for more proof — just to assuage the doubters, he says. He has discussed the birther question frequently on his radio show, which CNN does not control. He has covered the question much less often on his CNN show, reporting on it five times since mid-July.
During the same time period, the birther issue has come up on 29 individual MSNBC shows between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. alone.
John Reiss, executive producer for "Hardball" and executive producer for MSNBC political programming, acknowledged the potential problem in giving too much coverage to conspiracy theories. But he said it was appropriate for Chris Matthews to spend so much time trying to shoot down the rumors.
Reiss said the birther issue has become "part of the American conversation." He pointed to the viral video of a birther woman shouting at Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) during a Delaware town hall and at a recent Daily Kos/ Research2000 poll in which 58 percent of Republicans expressed doubts over whether Obama was born in the United States.

I have come to believe they want us to continue this birth certificate dispute in order to bring confusion and chaos to the true conservatives. It could be some kind of rope a dope subterfuge. Whatever happened to the Kenya birth certificate that was supposed to nail Obama? At this point I believe about half of what I see and even less of what I read on the internet.
That's why I'd like to see the birthers keep the heat on all the conspicuously missing information on this guy so as not to give ammunition to those in the media who would only be too happy to paint all people who are creeped out by the bizarre secrecy in his background as gullible paranoiacs who've latched on to 'out there' folks like Taitz, Corsi et al peddling clearly suspect documents and grasping at embarrassing straws.
I think the most effective tack right now, PR speaking, would be to go after the media full bore on why it demanded (and got) GWB's transcripts, why it demanded (& got) John McCain's BC, why even Chuckie Schumer insisted that every candidate's and politician's medical records were absolutely the business of the people, yet Barack Obama has been able to get away with playing hide & seek on all of these aspects of his deliberately obscure background with absolutely not the slightest shred of curiosity, let alone blowback from the very same journalists who asserted - and continue to assert - their god given right to play proctologists with the backgrounds of all republican candidates.
Thanks to the US media, we know where Sarah Palin's kids got their first gyn exams for heavens sakes, and yet we still get all kinds of conflicting stories out of 'mainstream' outlets on which Hawaiian hospital the 45th president of the United States was supposedly born in. You've got high profile establishment journalists like Andrew Sullivan still intensely interested in where & when the former Governor of Alaska's youngest son was born & analysing in excruciatingly minute detail what his birth certificate says, and yet no high profile journalists seem remotely interested in establishing definitively where & when the extraordinary man who has acceded to this supposedly 'historic' Presidency was born, let alone anything about his college career.
If BHO's presidency is so damn historic, why is all the history of this President's undeniably historic life being so carefully hidden from the frikkin' historians?
You don't have to be a birther to think that's just full-out-honkin' weird.The birthers need to establish solidarity with those Americans to get them on their side to force the press to come clean on their odd double standards here.EVERYBODY mistrusts the media and there's no one alive who is willing to pretend that the establishment press in this country isn't biased anymore. 1. We must start putting more and more pressure on Occidental and Columbia officials to release Obama's college records.
2. We must put so much pressure on Occidental and Columbia officials so that Occidental and Columbia officials are forced to confront Obama with something like this:
"Students and alumni---some of whom are very rich and contribute freely to our college funds--- are starting to get restless and wondering why you won't give Occidental and Columbia permission to release your college records. They are curious about what you are hiding.
"The students and alumni are getting tired of people continually asking them what you are hiding and why you are spending so much money to keep your Occidenal and Columbia records from the public view. "

Exactly! No reasonably decent historian would write a biography about a president and not be able to verify which hospital he was born in, what health problems he may or maynot have had, and weather he was an honor student, or a just barely made it out of school student.
The only thing we know about Mr. Obama’s past is what he wrote in his 2, count ‘em two, autobiographies both written by the time he was 45. And both shown to have glowing misrepresentations, read LIES, about his past.

By making a stink about what is undeniably his secrecy about the whole gamut of details he's hiding, you have the opportunity to bring a lot more people on board who aren't necessarily so transfixed about the arcane minutiae whether or not his mom was a resident for 14 consecutive yrs etc, but who might remember how the media studied in microscopic detail every aspect of GWB & Kerry's transcripts, even going so far as to 'weighting' their respective GPA's commensurately with the putative difficulty of their respective classloads. Remember that? I sure do. They'll say: Yeah. Wassup with that. How come we've heard nothing about his transcripts.
Second, by agitating under the broader rubrik of this man's strangely compulsive secrecy, the issue dovetails nicely with the profoundly secretive nature of his Presidency itself & offers a political payoff to his opposition; it reinforces all the secrecy of the "fishy" lists, the Czars, the stimulus bills hiding payments to political supporters, the details of his Health Control Act obscured by layers of bureaucratese.
I had a liberal who voted for O & who still supports him unfortunately tell me he had hoped BHO would be more like the black JFK but he's turning out to be the tan Nixon & it's just because of his eery compulsive secrecy-bordering-on-paranoia about everything.
I'm tellin ya, I think we're on to something here. Let's hit this broader point hard & hit it often and the rest (the BC, the transcripts the whole nine yards) will follow.

You don’t have to be the slightest bit concerned with the debate over what “native born” really means to have your suspicions piqued about the man because of his strange paranoia about revealing even the most innocuous details about all of his past. Heck, you don’t have to even be a consitutionalist or even a Republican to figure out that’s pretty darn odd.

If you’re asking about the Certification of Live Birth, I’m not too sure. But what’s even more interesting to me lately are the many ways a birth certificate ‘record’ could be entered into SOH official records in 1961.

Clearly, a family keenly interested in keeping a son with his unwed mother, vs. his Kenyan father, could have had a vested interest in Barack’s US citizenship, no matter the means. And if the means were readily available, why not? Given a choice between Kenyan, British or US citizenship, I think the Dunham’s chose US as the best option for their grandson.
