Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired) was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia and is third of four generations of military servicemen in his family. His parents instilled in him a very basic principle, love of God and Country. In 2004, when it was time to retire from more than twenty years of service in the US Army, he brought his wife and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school for one year. He then returned to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.
Allen West received his Bachelors degree from University of Tennessee and Masters degree from Kansas State University, both in political science. He also holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College in political theory and military operations.
"Education is the great equalizer," he says. "With a good education, any child in America can live his dream."
Allen West knows that for our children to live their dreams, they need to be safe. He has served in several combat zones: in Operation Desert Storm, in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was battalion commander for the Army's 4th Infantry Division, and in Afghanistan, where he trained Afghan officers to take on the responsibility of securing their own country.
In his Army career, Col. West has been honored many times, including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award. He received his valor award as a Captain in Desert Shield/Storm, was the US Army ROTC Instructor of the Year in 1993, and was a Distinguished Honor Graduate III Corps Assault School. He proudly wears the Army Master parachutist badge, Air Assault badge, Navy/Marine Corps parachutist insignia, Italian parachutist wings, and German proficiency badge (Bronze award).
Allen is an avid distance runner, a PADI Master certified SCUBA diver, motorcyclist, and attends Community Christian Church in Tamarac Florida.
Excellence is a West family tradition. His wife, Angela, holds an MBA and PhD. and works as a financial planner. His oldest daughter, Aubrey, attends Archbishop McCarthy HS and his youngest daughter, Austen, attends Parkway Christian School.

It will be great to see you again, Dolly.
Marissa and I are getting excited. It will be nice to see our friend from Indiana/Ohio again. We have not seen her since we were in Ohio with Lori.
Have a great day.
See you in DC.
Check your state board.
There are charter buses from several locations.
Hope to see you at our Convention. It is going to be awesome.
IMPEACH OBAMA
No, no, no. He’s doing a great job of doing himself in with his own party.
Check on your Free Republic State Forum and perhaps you will connect up with other Freepers in your area who are driving and car-pooling.
Also check with your local 9/12 group as I know many across the country are getting together for sharing expenses and also chartering buses.
Hope you get to DC for this historical event, the giant of all Tea Parties!
Thanks for the ping, Amy. seekthetruth sending you FReepmail.
Hey there, here’s another bite of Malzberger! Take a Listen!
(He’s much taller in person than on the radio)
Valid point.
Hope to see you in DC, PGalt.
This should be a great event. The rally at Walter Reed, the Tea Party March and the Banquet. Hope you can make it.
Will do.
Bart.
There were three canceled rooms from Freepers who had to cancel due to illness and/or family member illness and as I posted before, the hotel allowed us to “re-fill” those rooms at our group rate. I was able to get those rooms refilled.
The hotel has given us five more rooms that we can fill at our group rate. The reason they are allowing these five extra rooms is they know that many folks had trouble reserving rooms on the 24th before the deadline. The deadline was supposed to be midnight on the 24th, but the hotel reservation system was indicating there were no rooms left as early as 4:00PM on the 24th.
So we have five rooms we can fill at our group rate of $116 at the Sheraton. If you see that you can come to DC and want one of those rooms or know someone who does, please Freepmail me. I need your first/last name and phone number so the hotel person in charge of our group rate rooms can call you directly to let you reserve a room.
FreepMail me with your first/last name and phone number if you want to reserve one of these five rooms.
Also remember that tickets to the Convention are still available and you can get them through JimRob and pay over time if you are having financial difficulties. Just freepmail Jim and he will help you work out a plan that fits into your budget.
Hope to see you all in DC for this historic event....the giant of all Tea Parties....and our National Free Republic Tea Party Convention!
Looks like I will be bringing my 11 year old son and 15 year old nephew...(future freepers!). How does it work for the convention with kids?
I live in St Augustine and I’m flying to DC on the 12th (early) and coming back that same night, but I’d like to be with other St A or at least Florida Freepers. I think being alone on the march, especially if they initiate any violence on the other side, wouldn’t be good.
Anybody who has any suggestions for North Florida Freepers to meet up? Thanks!
Hello?...is this mic on....need info about convention and kids! :) thanks!!
Pinging you to a question regarding the convention tickets.
Hello, Reddy. Someone will get back to you tomorrow.
See you in DC. It is gonna be fun!!
Hi Please read post # 139 about parents who are bringing children to the convention. Thanks! Jean
Hi, If you are flying in early and could be at the Sheraton by 9:30-10:00AM you can go on the March with us. There is transportation from Reagan National to the Sheraton. :)
Thank you! I’m getting into Reagan International around 9:00 am. I guess that would be time enough to get to the Sheraton? I am certainly going to aim for it, in any case, so even if I miss you all, I’ll start out from there and try to catch up. Thanks again!
Thanks for the info about kids at the convention...what does the $45 for kids cover? (I am bringing 2 boys, 11 and 15). If we don’t pay the full convention price, what are they excluded from? May they still accompany us to Walter Reed, be at the memorial service, etc., just not the banquet? Do you know how far away the children’s room is from where we will be? Thanks for your patience!
