At the top of the 4:00PM ET hour on MSNBC Friday, fill-in co-anchor Monica Novotny issued a dire warning about protests at health care town hall meetings: "The town hall confrontations are turning violent....Where is all of this heading? New fears for the safety of America’s first African-American president."

If it’s on MSNBC then chances are nobody saw it.

It’s probably getting more play here than it did on the air.

MSNBC = Abject failure.

Not only are they a threat to the President’s life, they’re also racist, sexist, homophobic and potentially cause cancer.

Part of the problem is that some of the health care meetings, like the one in Tampa, actually WERE SEIU information sessions for their members, to which they invited the Reps to speak. So the union members were there because it was bein held by the union to begin with.

This was the event Rush talked about on Thursday and encouraged people to attend:

Factually incorrect. Read your own link. It was an open meeting by the Congress critter with SEIU listed as a co host. It is an open public meeting that the Democrat party was inviting the public to attend. Then when the public DID attend, the Democrat party bosses had a fit.

Here is a picture of a Democrat party official slapping a peaceful protester at the very public meeting you wrongly claim was an SEIU event.

Democrat Party offical slaps protestor at health care town hall

This doesn’t surprise me a bit...I could swear that Rachel Maddow was trying to make the point that suppressing the voices of the protesters was being done to protect the 1st Amendment rights of others...in effect if we agree with you, you are free to say and act as you wish but dissenters will be silenced.

Did the host acknowledge, in the interest of full disclosure, that MSNBC’s parent corp, GE, stands to profit from gov’t health care spending. As one of the worlds largest makers of medical imaging devices they are not necessarily an objective bystander.

I believe that the Obamites are waiting for the right incident to use as an excuse for some "legislation" curtailing dissent. I also believe that they are working to create the right environment for said incident to occur. They may well have contingency plans to create such an incident if it doesn't happen on its own.

Then we need to redouble our pressure on our representatives to let them know in direct terms that any direct assault on the Constitution means political death in the next election. No gun controls or bans, no limits on protest or assembly, no martial law type "crises", no troops or National Guardsmen in the streets. And to the military, you will have a choice to make...stand with America or stand with those that hold you in disdain and will sacrifice you as pawns against the true patriots.

Yes I understand that it was an open public meeting - does Florida have a Sunshine Law like NJ? Then it would be an open punlic meeting.

And it was announced on the NC Dems website, which is where the original confusion about who sponsored it came from.

However, though Castor was invited, it was not HER meeting.

This is what that link says:

“Health Care Reform Meeting with State Rep Betty Reed & SEIU

Event Location: The Childrens Board - 1002 E Palm Ave, Tampa

Event Description:
Join us and make your voice heard on health care insurance reform!

Healthcare Reform Meeting- Hosted by Rep. Betty Reed & SEIU

Your Chance to Provide Input and Ask Questions to Your Elected Officials and Candidates
Date:
Thursday, August 6, 2009
Time:
6:00pm - 9:00pm
Location:
Children’s Board
Street:
1002 E Palm Ave
City/Town:
Tampa, FL

Featuring an update from Congress on HR 3200
Congresswoman Kathy Castor “

It was hosted by SEIU.

That is why the Union President (the woman in the blue suit) is at the beginning of the tape welcoming “our members” to the meeting before she introduces Rep. Castor.

That is why the place was packed with union members - it was intended to be an question-and-answer session about the health care legislation for the union members with Rep. Castor.

I never said thatthere were not Dem officials there - there obviously were.

All I said is that it was originally an SEIU event intended primarily for their members. I am not wrong. The presence of an DEm official there does noy change the fact that this was an event hosted by the SEIU, not the Democratic organization. That is the reason that there were so many SEIU members there.

I believe that my own link verifies my position. If you disagree, then I cannot change your mind, no matter what sort of evidence I provide.

It’s sort of like the Obama b/c - even if a long form certificate were provided, that would not be sufficient for many people.

Her comments have probably received more notice here on FR than they did on TV.

Anything to divert attention from the health care bill: the House bill contains more danger to humans than all the protests in American history put together.
