Those kind of ‘laws’ are unconstitutional. NO KIDDING. Ever heard the phrase “there should be a law”? It’s a figure of speech, I wasn’t seriously suggesting there be an actual “law”. Lighten Up.

What? Me an Obot? You are WAY off base pal. You don’t know me. I wasn’t BORN on Nov 24th 2008. I had an existance & oposition to Obama before I signed up on freerepublic. I don’t judge my life by the date I signed up here. Obviously you do.

“why did the Chief Justice swear him in? Vice President Cheney declared Obama qualified at the Joint Session of Congress held on January 8th which counted and certified the Electoral College vote”

You are exactly correct.

And why has the news media ignored the “STORY OF THE CENTURY”? That is the “QUESTION” of the century.

I want the answer to these questions and I want them NOW.

“Ignore?” The story has been all over the mass media over a year now. If you “google” “Obama birth certificate” you’ll get more than 20 million hits.

Thanks for the kind words, jamese777. I was trying to express to Red Steel and others exactly what my thought processes were and why I reached the conclusions I reached. But I must disagree with you — it was hardly “brilliant.” I almost went to law school (many years ago, of course), but I decided against it.

I also appreciate your highlighting of that statement in the decision. I hadn’t actually been acquainted with Craig’s claims, so it didn’t immediately strike me in the same way as it did you.

I am definitely relieved, though, to hear that I am not totally alone here in my interpretations!!

No, I am not saying “shut up.” Not at all. Just be clear that you are not claiming to know for sure. Y’all just sound so positive of things, as if you actually had proof.

You all are obviously not insane or stupid. Normally, you would not believe allegations to be true without proof, but in this case, the impression your words leave with the reader is that you “believe” things without any hard evidence. In other words, somehow people’s emotions are overtaking their normal ability to be rational.

And so what happens? People go around looking for even the flimsiest bit of innuendo that will support the belief that they want to be true, even if it means buying into some discredited legal “theory” about natural born citizenship that there is absolutely no evidence to support.

I actually think Freepers are a whole lot smarter than that. Why else would I try to wake you up?

I’ve said a hundred or more times that I wish there was evidence against him. Until there is, if I feel like chastising people for being gullible and letting their passion guide their rationality, I am going to do so.

But I am hardly saying “shut up.” I am not stopping my own efforts to find the truth, either, but I am careful to not make our side look foolish and ignorant.

That’s right — a naturalized citizen can run for federal office but not the presidency.

Indeed he did. I’m sure many of us here today tried our hardest to wake people up. I did. I tried my hardest to tell people he was open about his socialism; some of them were fine with socialism. Go figure. They’re not taught the horrors of the 20th century in school anymore. Instead, they’re given the liberal view — we all know this.

George Washington is my inspiration. He believed Providence was smiling on America. So do I. Believe in Providence like Washington did. I tell myself that all the time.

The good, the true, the honorable IS what we stand for, and the other side knows that. They just do not have the same values as we do. For them, there is no “good” or “evil.” They are in darkness, and we need to pray for them with all our strength. That’s my opinion, and I hope my injection of my personal faith doesn’t offend anyone.

You are most welcome and you’re not alone. I have long advocated here on FreeRepublic that a resolution to the Obama eligibility question be achieved by pressuring the Attorney General of the state of Hawaii, Mark Bennett (who is a Republican) to convene a “fishing expedition” Grand Jury. That would entail seeking a subpoena for Obama’s vault copy, long form, original Certificate of Live Birth [which is allowable under Hawaii Law: Hawaii Revised Statutes 338-18(b)(9)]. Have experts examine the document. If it is valid, authentic and identical to the short form COLB then “no harm, no foul.” If it is invalid, a forgery or fraudulent, then Obama can be charged with forgery or fraud and the Democrats would impeach him to minimize the political damage just like they did in Illinois with Rod Blagojevich.
In my mind, that is the most efficacious way to resolve the issue.
I do not believe that Barack Obama’s father not being born in the United States has any more bearing on his status as Natural Born than the 22nd President Chester A. Arthur’s father being born in County Antrim, Ireland had constitutional relevance to Arthur becoming President.

You were incorrect in your assessment.

Now, since you are withdrawing the accusation... what led you to such nonsense?

****

That’s a great idea. Has anything been done to promote this idea elsewhere, or directly to Mark Bennett?

I think the contention, by the way, is not so much being born in the U.S. as it is in being even a naturalized citizen. The latter would satisfy most of them, I think, but of course they are mistaken about that.

I sometimes wonder, given their mimicking of Obama’s allegations that his opponents are “lying” all the time, if those who think the parents of a president must be at least a naturalized U.S. citizen are, in fact, representatives of Obama and his minions. After all, they use his tactics of calling their opponents liars, and I note with interest that neither you nor I use Obama’s tactics. I am not aware of anyone else agreeing with me other than you, by the way.

I’d be interested in hearing more about the Hawaii AG idea anytime you hear anything. There are probably political issues that are operating to prevent the sensible thing from happening, though, which is discouraging.

“Yes, Law of Nations is capitalized, meaning our framers were citing a proper name.”

***

And so, according to you and those who agree with you, in Article 1, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution, all of the capitalized words are proper names in the following paragraph?

“Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.”

***

Look at all those proper nouns!!! Are they books, do you think, just as you think “Law of Nations” is a reference to a book? Or people, maybe??? There are a multitude of people with the name “William” who might be called “Bill.” I will grant you that. But have you done one single bit of research into how English was written in those days??

In view of the above evidence, you and the others are faced with revising your theory of the meaning of “Law of Nations” in the Constitution or denying reality.

In the latter, you can follow the nutcase who made this dumb theory so agreeable to people: Leo Donofrio.

There are probably political issues that are operating to prevent the sensible thing from happening, though, which is discouraging.

If you are wondering why there is reluctance on the part of Republicans to press this issue (I am inferring that from your words, and I could be wrong about your meaning) there are 3 main reasons:

1. They are afraid of a race war breaking out.

2. They are afraid to be embarrassed in case the allegations (no BBC) are proven untrue.

3. They are afraid that even if proven true and even if the inner cities remain calm(doubtful) the powers that be and the voters will do nothing about it -- much like they treated the Lewinsky scandal.

JMHO, but that does not mean that it is the right way to treat this allegation. It should be proven right or wrong. Layed on the table and examined. Sent to document experts for vetting. But that's just me. I'm a blck and white sort of person, no pun intended.
