There's Red America, Blue America and Tinfoil Helmet America. And it looks like the third camp is enormously larger than anyone feared.
A new poll, commissioned by the liberal Web site Daily Kos found that fully 11% of Americans think that Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States. And another 12% said that they are unsure.
The doubters are heavily concentrated in the Republican Party, according to pollsters. An amazing 58% of the surveyed Republicans questioned whether Obama, in fact, entered the world in Hawaii.
What this means: Millions of Americans suspect or are convinced that Obama, son of a Kenyan father, is not a citizen and thus cannot legitimately serve as President. And no Hawaiian birth certificate or newspaper announcement from the time will convince them otherwise.
Who are these people? They're the ones whose feet are not planted on U.S. soil - or any soil.
They don’t own the document. Obama can get a certified copy and show us the actual proof that he based his oath or 2 oaths on. The Constitution compels him to qualify. We have no other way of knowing he is qualified

And then, if you “compel him” — then why don’t you have it now?
Another “clue-train” here...
The reason why you don’t have it now and why you’re not looking at that birth certificate right now — is — there is *no legal requirement* for a candidate to show his birth certificate.
And thus... that leads directly to the next step of making it *legally mandatory* to produce a birth certificate by getting that state law passed to that effect...
Now, that seems *very simple* to understand... but if it isn’t...
Then I’ll let you “compel” all you want... :-)

And interestingly enough, whatever it means to “qualify”, he has obviously not done it yet. If he had done it, the matter would be settled.
If he showed a long form and a bunch of folks STILL protested, then they could be considered certifiable.
But UNTIL he does, we’re not!!!

No, really... I’ll have to go back over some threads and see if I can contact a few and see about that. But, I do know that most people don’t like the *hassles* they would get on these threads for “advocating” a state law to that effect.
I do it, because I can deal with all the hassles... :-) but many others wouldn’t...
But, perhaps there can be specific threads *only* for those who support that idea and we can organize that way. That’s what I think would work... and I’ll get to work on that one, too...
But, feel free to pitch in, too... and forward names and whomever else may want to help out in their state. I would really like to see this going...
Cigar or not... the average American is going to hear the State of Hawaii and see their official announcement on their official website saying that Obama was born in Hawaii and that he is a natural-born American citizen and that’s going to be all they hear about that subject as far as they’re concerned from then on...
well,i don’t jump on it strongly but since i feel he should show his long form BC i suppose i’m a birther. I prefer not to speculate as to whats on it but i do believe that it should be presented in a public forum as proof of natural born status. Its a rather simple notion.
The left is getting hysterical on the issue because they truly fear the outcome should the worst occur. They realize conservatives and moderates will expect justice and they know its their own party that will forcibly subvert it,ending their machinations forever.

The Constitution is the law of the land and no others are necessary to qualify a President.
But if some want to spend their time and effort making a new law that will probably be ignored, then more power to them.
But,I think some that argue for a new law don’t seem to understand that if challenged in court, and it is decided that it is unconstitutional, it could make it harder to verify someones ‘natural born’ status.
The Constitution REQUIRES anyone running for President to PROVE their birth status already.
A new ‘law’ may only add to the confusion, rather than solve the problem.
But hey!
If it works, that would be great too!

Actually, I kind of think they do own the document, to tell you the truth about it... an individual himself controls the “release of information” — but I would say that the State of Hawaii *owns* the document, itself...
