Screaming constituents, protesters dragged out by the cops, congressmen fearful for their safety welcome to the new town-hall-style meeting, the once-staid forum that is rapidly turning into a house of horrors for members of Congress.
On the eve of the August recess, members are reporting meetings that have gone terribly awry, marked by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior. In at least one case, a congressman has stopped holding town hall events because the situation has spiraled so far out of control.
I had felt they would be pointless, Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to suspend the events in his Long Island district. There is no point in meeting with my constituents and [to] listen to them and have them listen to you if what is basically an unruly mob prevents you from having an intelligent conversation.

I would love to go to Frank's town hall meeting even though he is not in my district but he probably is not holding meetings either.
I know I wouldn't be able to change my minds of my Senators and Representatives but maybe my attendance would give others a feeling of solidarity. Who knows.
What is apparent at these town halls meetings I have seen across this country...the voters are MORE INFORMED than their Congressmen. Sad and pathetic that they represent us.
Obama is opposing this...

Why is post #19 still there? I reported it.
Yes the voters are more informed because WE READ some of if not all of the bills!
please see post # 19.
Why did you quote what will be removed, soon?
I’m SO GLAD he’s not MY rep - he’s LONG ISLAND! He is so far removed from reality. Can’t believe he said what he said outloud!
Excellent idea ! Protest (tea parties) should be attacking the media - “WE DEMAND THAT THEY REPORT THE TRUTH!”
Fits right into the whole Palin thing too.
Thank you!
Good point. I always quote the lines I am responding to, because it makes the thread easier to read. I should have said:
All this is illrelevrent till ...
As "stupidly" as the thug in our White House has behaved, we're better off trying to hold our county together for the full four year term under this loser. If he's removed early by any means, his inattentive voters will learn nothing from their mistake and the next national socialist they elect might be intelligent instead of just evil. If they have a full term to learn just how empty the far left liberal mindset is, more voters will learn and that will give conservatives a solid majority that can elect a generation of patriotic leaders. That should allow us to dismantle a large chunk of the socialist welfare state and of the Big Brother federal interventions in our lives.
Besides, while I'd guess that most in the Secret Service despise the thug they have to protect (and I know several, all of who find him even lower than Bill Clinton), they are professionals and take their job seriously. Your statement was not a threat, but it might be prudent to choose your words more carefully when discussing this particular anti-American tyrant, so that you don't accidnetally cross that line.
Looks like more and more people are agreeing with my tag line.
Note to electorate mob: Next time remember the torches and pitchforks
We need to vote them all out of office. They refuse to listen to the voices of those who elected them.
It looks like every congresscum they quoted was a demoncrap.
