Washington Times Has Now Updated Title from "EXCLUSIVE: Palin to stump for conservative Democrats"
Washington Times ^ | July 12, 2009 | Ralph Z. Hallow

ANCHORAGE, Alaska | Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray — stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats — after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.

The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla — population 7,000 — where she began her political career.

Time will tell. I’ll wait and see what happens. Don’t forget Virgil Goode. He was first a blue dog until he was too at odds with his party. There is such a thing as ‘conservative democrat’. Whether one exists today is the only real question. — FRegards

So you, as a "conservative", are hoping that a guy...

Dang. Let me draw a diagram for you again. I am not hoping for anything - I am telling you what IS very likely going to happen. Do I make myself clear? Does that spell it out for you?

I agree with you. Anyone thinks this is a good thing must want Pelosi for two more years. When it comes to voting for speaker they voted 100% for Pelosi. In fact I can only remember one Texan Congressman who became a GOP eventually that voted for the Republican for Speaker when we had the numbers. Only recently have the Blue Dogs risen up and said no and then it is only 44 and a lot of those that voted did so for their reelection and had the Speaker’s blessing.

You change the party from within and fight good old boys on their turf.

Depends on your stance.

Are you a Republican ?

Or a Conservative?

You change the party by making traitors afraid to cross you.
If you are a RINO, in a place where you could be more right leaning, the threat of having Palin come campaign for your opponent is going to get your mind right in a hurry.

This isn’t about her campagining for dems. It’s about getting RINOS to owe her.

I am withholding any more comment until I hear what she has to say.

You collect IOU’s from Republicans if you want to run for national office. Dems will turn and bite the hand that fed them in a moment’s notice.

We have to be going against the Dems full force to get some seats back so they can bargain and not be shut out of the process.

Right. You collect IOU’s from RINO’s .....and force them towards you.

Sadly you do make yourself very clear.

But let me pose another question or two.

If you do indeed take umbrage, as a “conservative” with Romney's problems and issues, why have you been such an ardent supporter with hardly a complaint about the Man.

Secondly, if you do take exception to his polices, what actions are YOU going to take to break this cycle of which you speak, to help gird us against his possible ascension to the office of President?

Me too. Reagan was the first Presidetal vote I gave and being raised by liberal democrats he really spoke to me and what I thought. There is a whole generation out there that is coming out of school now into the same type of mess Carter created no sense in not pointing out the folly of liberal politics. It worked with me it will work again.

Sounds good in theory.

But in what kind of situation would she campaign for a conservative Dem? In the primary? And if they win, then what? Endorse them against the Republican, or just stay out of it? I don't know of many examples of the Dem being genuinely more conservative than the Rep.

And wouldn't this backfire in a Dem primary anyway? The liberal base would galvanize against any candidate associated with Palin. Who then would actually accept her help?

Goode dumping the rats was 10 years ago.

Only 1 house democrat you could call based on his past voting record conservative enough that he should be a Republican is Gene Taylor of Mississippi. He famously voted for pro-life John Murtha as Speaker several times over Gephardt and Pelosi. Until 2007 when was a good little rat and voted for Pelosi. In 2008 his voting record soured, a 24 from the American Conservative Union. If he was gonna switch it would have happened long ago. He’s not a really a conservative or else he’s and enabler and a fool. A wife who can’t leave her abusive husband because she “loves him”.

And in almost every instance a “conservative” democrat holds a district that should be Republican. If democrats hold seats like that, they have the majority and the liberals are in charge.

If Palin/Gingrich want to be support relative moderate democrats in the primary if they sit in safe democrat seats (this is what Gingrich said), that’s not a terrible idea but I feel that is a waste of our very limited resources. Some freepers gave money to Joe Lieberman, a near total liberal in 2006. Meanwhile conservatives Jim Talent, George Allen and Conrad Burns went down in close races and took the majority with them.

And being associated with Republicans is the last thing that would help anyone win a democrat primary.

It would be nice to create a fifth column of DINOs in democrat areas just like a fifth column of RINOs exists in the GOP but that’s a hard act to pull off.

If we’re going for a project that grand I’d rather it be trying to make the GOP competitive again in democrat areas.

“She says, anyone who supports Conservatism is my friend, of course there won’t be any Dems following her.

She is peeling off the “Blue dogs” voters, by calling their bluff. “

interesting, to be honest i did not consider this. we shall see how it plays out

Living in the south, I know that many rats are running as ‘conservatives’. Some may opt for Sarah [for whatever reasons]. I’m not ready to jump out of the Palin wagon because of one report that hints at a vague future.

“Pelosi became speaker before most outside of Alaska heard of Sarah Palin”

and your point is what exactly? look if she does campaign for Dems and helps them get reelected she is helping to maintain the current speaker - period. I dont care how conservative these Dems claim they are they will vote for Pelosi as speaker or some other equally lib Dem to run things. Most of these Blue Dog or Conservative Dems vote party line on most legislation so i dont know how this would help the conservative cause at all

Gillibrand is pro-abortion. Casey is pro-life, but liberal on everything else. The only other pro-life Dem in the Senate is Ben Nelson of Nebraska (who’s the least liberal Democrat in the Senate).

If she wants to campaign for the better ones during the primaries, fine. When it comes to November, she needs to back our guys. We simply must take back Congress so we can block some of this nonsense.

The F-22 will die if we don’t. Much more stuff will reach the same fate, if we don’t.
