^Conservative^ Presidential Primaries
July 6, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/06/2009 1:34:12 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Well, the presidential primary sweepstakes is heating up already. Many people have written Sarah Palin off. Heck, many thought she never had a chance anyway and they're gloating about it. And, unfortunately, "conservative" Governor Sanford blew his chances. Keep it zipped up fellas.

And the media, as usual, is panting hard for the most liberal Republican they can find in the primary race. Namely, Governor Slick Willard Romney.

Hey, Romney's ok. IF you're one of those liberal/moderate RINO types that loves big government forcing big government "solutions" for health care, etc, down your throat. AND if you can morally ignore his liberal record in Massachusetts that left the state saddled with a bankrupting state run health care system, taxpayer funded abortions, gay marriage, gun control, sanctuary cities, intrusion and government coercion into private matters, etc, etc, etc, AND you've convinced yourself that it wasn't Slick's fault. The liberals made him do it, etc. They don't call him Kennedy's best friend for nothing, y'know.

But I'm a conservative. That means I'm a social conservative, fiscal conservative, small government conservative, national defense conservative and traditional American heritage conservative. And I will support the conservative candidates who best represent my conservative principles and values. In the very least, my conservative candidate will have a strong pro-Life and Liberty record. And he will have an unblemished fiscally conservative, small government, pro-national security, and pro-national defense record!

Will I sit out the race if a socially liberal RINO is nominated? You betcha. I will not participate in the further destruction of the Republican Party. If the Republican Party continues moving left, it will have left me.

That automatically rules out Romney, Rudy, Paul and any other whacked out fools or RINOs. And thank God the old warhorse McCain is too old and feeble to run again. Please, Arizona, put the old guy out to pasture before he does any more damage to party and country.

Would I support Sarah Palin if she decides to run? You betcha! And I would enthusiastically welcome and support Governor Barbour, Senator Sessions, Congressman Pence or Duncan Hunter, et al. Don't know enough about Jindal to say but I'm willing to listen.

And I'm sure there are other conservatives we should consider. Would like for FReepers to post their favorite presidential hopefuls here and list their conservative credentials for our consideration.

RINOs or social liberals need not apply. Enough with the Swartzeneggers, Giulianis, Romneys, McCains, et al. They NEVER work out for us!!

Thanks,

Jim

P.S. Government funded or forced health care is NOT a constitutional right! It's TYRANNY!!

DONT TREAD ON ME!!

Don’t know enough about Jindal to say but I’m willing to listen.

Jindal needs to be explored indepth and more importantly Jindal needs to stick with a job more than two or three years. My biggest concern is that he’s been through several important positions in LA but none have of any duration to where he has had to deal with the policies he’s put in place, etc. His tenure as governor may give an opportunity to see that side of him should he stick around for a 2nd term. His time maybe a term or two out at this juncture.

A little bit about him using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Jindal

Born June 10, 1971.... 38 years of age, still young

1996... Appointed Secretary, LA Dept Health and Hospitals, a dept that representated about 40% of the state budget.
He did bring the Medicaid area from a deficit to a surplus.

1998... Appointed executive director of the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare

1999... Appointed president of the University of Louisiana System

2001 ... Nominated by President Bush to be Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Planning and Evaluation. Resigned in 2003.

2003... Ran for Governor and lost to Blanco.

2004... Elected to Congress from 1st Congressional District, LA.

2007.... Announced in Jan. his intent to run for Gov. and was elected in Oct.

2008... Jan. 2008 sworn in as governor. Currently holding that position.

To keep them from doing damage within the halls of the Legislature.

Well, that doesn’t surprise me. Some of these guys just don’t get it. I’ve written him off. I appreciate the mention though.

Don't count on it Jim. While he did say he would not run in 2012, he's more likely just re-assessing how to try again. You don't survive a prison camp without learning patience, resiliancy, and having a tank full of drive. McCains aides constantly feeding new poisons to Vanity Fair every few months is, IMO, to keep him in the game and to keep her from getting too big. You don't hear McCain telling those aides of his to be quiet...

I don't know what Sarah Palin is planning, but I'm in her corner of she runs.

Closed primaries. Voter ID. No early voting. No ACORN thugs.

BRAVO Jim.

I'm in the same camp with you and I just finished a term as a County Republican officer where served as a delegate to the national convention and I ran the County McCain/Palin office! Until McCain named Palin, I had decided to skip the convention even though it would have been an honor to serve my state. Once Palin accepted McCain's "pick," I legitimately could both attend the convention and run the election office.

Before we got McCain/Palin signs, I couldn't give the McCain signs away - afterward, I couldn't keep them in stock and finished out the race adding some of my personal "stuff" such as "Read my lipstick," "I'm with Joe the Plumber" and one on Obama and Socialism.

Fortunately, I kept a number of ones that represented Sarah not only for my scrapbook but also to dust off in the future - should the most favorite candidate of '09 decide to run again.

Bless you and may God continue to bless Sarah Palin.

“At a crucial time, when it came time to confirm John Bolton as Un Ambassador, he voted no.”

I didn’t know that, what was his justification?

"You don't hear McCain telling those aides of his to be quiet."

If the GOP wants Lieberman to pick their candidate, you can't count him out!

I'd rather get off the personality kick and define what conservatives want the President to do then look for the best candidate to accomplish it. Sort of how a business searches for and finds a CEO.

That is why my first choice would be Haley Barbour. I like everything about Sarah. I think she would be a good president in a more peaceful world. If she were president I would want Bolton and Petreaus in the same room whenever she came up against Russians or Radical Islamics, at least for a first term when she was coming up to speed. Even Margaret Thatcher had to go through the Falkland War before they took her seriously. I was very impressed by Barbour when he was DNC Chairman. No one could throw him off balance or divert him from the core issue. He had a superb answer for anything the press could throw at him. So my first choice would be a Barbour/Palin ticket. However, unlike many on FR, I wish there was a way to get Romney working on getting the economy and our fiscal strength in order.

I don't see how Barbour can be a choice at all, much less great. HE VETOED legislation that would have made the emanate domain law (as upheld by the supreme court) illegal in his state. So Haley, a so called conservative, vetoed legislation so he would be able to TAKE personal property for the sole purpose of giving it to corporations on whom he can RAISE TAXES! I could never vote for this man.

Many people have written Sarah Palin off. Heck, many thought she never had a chance anyway and they're gloating about it.

And those on the Right are just as reprehensible as those on the Left. As to the former, the two issues they, (moderate/liberal Republicans, and Log Cabin-types), find most repulsive about Sarah Palin are her pro-life and pro-family values.
The Left hate her for everything she stands for.

There is only one living politician who personifies the vision of America set forth and emboldened by Jefferson, Madison, and Reagan. Let there be not a scintilla of doubt - that person is the grand lady of Alaska, Sarah Palin.
