Sarah Palin to campaign around America after surprise resignation as Alaska governor
Telegraph (U.K.) ^ | July 5, 2009 | Leonard Doyle

Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin is expected to travel widely, campaigning for Republican candidates after startling America by suddenly quitting her job.

One of America's most unconventional politicians, she left the country reeling on Friday evening by declaring that she is resigning her office this month and deriding the "superficial political blood sport."

Almost a year after bursting on to the national scene as John McCain's presidential running mate, Mrs Palin, 45, has now made an unpredictable leap into the unknown. Speculation is at fever pitch that she will seek her party's nomination for the 2012 presidential race.

Mrs Palin offered few clues about her future plans and said she was quitting in order to protect her children, especially her Down syndrome infant Trig, who she complained had become the butt of adult humour. She also said she wants to escape the legal cost of repeated ethics investigations which have hampered her ability to govern.

But far from disappearing from view, the telegenic Mrs Palin has given herself the opportunity to leave the relative isolation of Alaska and prepare the ground for a possible run for the presidency in 2012.

If she does this she will be following in the footsteps of Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, both of whom travelled around the US extensively before launching their own presidential runs.

Mr Palin's theatrical folksiness captivated the US when she ran for Republican Vice President last year. Despite enduring withering mockery in the media, she remains hugely popular especially among the country's disillusioned Republicans.

In her characteristic style, Mrs Palin announced her departure from the top job in Alaska in her back garden in the small town of Wasilla, where she was mayor until 2002. As she spoke into a single microphone, ducks waddled across the lake behind her and small

Who hinted that she might tour the US with Rush?

Come on Rush, do it with Sarah. The media would follow you both like flies. Bambi would be left with himself. Nothing

I give huge kudos to the Brits. While their media is also mostly leftist drivel, they still are the only in the world with outposts of sanity, objectivity and professionalism. Lately I catch myself more and more reading Brit articles.

SARAH’S HIGHER CALLING:
Sarah Palin would do more for the nation - in my opinion – by taking over the RNC, kick Steele to the curb, and give the RNC a makeover (including lipstick). She could get much more done for this nation as opposed to running for office - but that could come later...

This would:
* Bring conservative principles back to the RNC (small government, get government out of our lives, lower taxes, 2nd amendment support, state's rights, small business support, lower taxes, strong defense, no-nonsense foreign policies). Conservatism works every time it is tried.

* She could be a credible spokesperson for energy, drilling, etc in light of sane environmental initiatives.

* She could, on a daily basis, take the wind out of Barry's Marxist sails on a host of his anti-American issues (bank take-overs, nationalization of large sectors of the economy, socialism, class warfare, generational theft, bigger government, job killing). Her media appeal would take away from the daily barrage of "new plans" put out ad nauseum by Barry, Rahm, Steffy, and 'Astro-Turf' Axelrod. She would be a countervailing force to the crap we get from the White Crib on a nearly hourly basis. If Republicans embraced the Twitter, Facebook, MySpace internet viral communications, it would be a direct hit against Barry's minions.

* She could - and this is the biggest reason she should take over the RNC - help with a 1994-esque take-over of both houses and start blocking the hopey-dopey-changey-strangey crap we have seen for the last 6 months.

The Presidency would be OK for her later on, but short-term we need to do things that set the stage for long-term solutions, that is, GET THE SENATE BACK (which will run to the SCOTUS issues), get the HOUSE BACK (which runs to spending and social engineering issues).

We need to be strategic, not knee-jerk, and Sarah may be an important rallying point to meet these objectives AS THE HEAD of the RNC. This is not the time for a third party - it will take WAY too long. Give the RNC a make-over, clean house, and get on with it!

But I could be wrong....

The GOP needs a voice if they are going to regain seats in the House and Senate and Sarah will be that voice. We need a focused message and Sarah will do that.

Sarah will be in Simi Valley, Ca on August 8th at a Republican women’s conference, I had it twittered to me yesterday. I was talking to some people online yesterday, some who may not think that Sarah is the best candidate in 2012 and they all said that if Sarah can come out and fight for our Constitution, they would support her if she ran for President. They all said it’s about damn time a Republican with GUTS comes out and takes down the libs. We had to deal with this crap for 8 years, Bush never fought back, but Sarah will, she knows she has God on her side and millions of supporters who will fight for our country’s freedom. Something must have changed for her when she visited Kosovo, sometimes it takes something powerful in life to happen to you to show you the right path to go
