Huffington Post Apologizes for Offensive Sarah Palin Article
Saturday, July 4, 2009 | Kristinn

Posted on 07/03/2009 9:38:59 PM PDT by kristinn

The Huffington Post issued an apology Friday evening for an article about the resignation of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin posted at their website entitled, Palin Will Run In '12 On More Retardation Platform, written by HuffPo writer Erik Sean Nelson.

The Daily Dose published an e-mail apology from Mario Ruiz of HuffPo:

Due to an editorial lapse, Erik Sean Nelson’s post on Sarah Palin bypassed the normal vetting process and appeared on HuffPost — but was never featured anywhere on the site. Even though satiric works are generally given greater latitude, Nelson’s post falls outside of HuffPost’s editorial guidelines. As such, if not for the error, it would not have been approved for publication, and was removed from the site as soon as our editors became aware of it. We sincerely regret the error and any offense it might have caused.

Ruiz's statement the article was pulled by the editors contradicts claims by the author of the piece that he pulled the article within minutes of posting it:

Within 10 minutes of the post, I received 2 emails from special needs families, saw that it was hurtful and I pulled the post immediately. I apologize for offending you.

Since you wanted to know what I was going for, it was that Palin said that she was leaving the governorship because of jokes. What kind of President would she make if she couldn’t handle some bad jokes? I used her words to create a farcical situation where offensive jokes were meant to be ironic. I saw immediately that it was wrong and apologized on the site.

Tommy Christopher, the author of the Daily Dose claims his intervention on Twitter alerted HuffPo to the offensive article:

Also important is that, within 10 minutes of tweeting HuffPo editor Jason Linkins, the piece was pulled (although it took longer for it to completely disappear). On a holiday weekend, no less, that’s an amazing turnaround.

Of course, the left only cared about the article because Free Republic had brought public awareness to the nasty piece of work minutes after the article was published.

From Free Republic the outrage went viral leading to HuffPo pulling the article to ward off a PR disaster. Of course, there was no direct apology to the Palin family nor was the author fired, so HuffPo's apology appears to be a PR move and not sincere.

She dosen’t scare the left , I don’t know why people insist on that . She is easy for them to goof on , thats it. She has no chance of ever being president , they know that too. I like her a lot but she is not the answer to our prayers. As for the HP , it’s a gang of leftist A Holes.

That's part of it. However, some leftist that I know would have voted for mccain if Sarah Palin were not his running mate. They hated her because she is anti-abortion. One person told me that her mother had an abortion long ago and voting for Palin would condemn her mother's actions. She told me she would feel guilty voting for Palin. I don't imagine the entire base on the left feel that same way, I just thought it was an interesting reason not to vote for Palin.

The Huffington post turns its back to the nation, drops its drawers, bends over and reveals Eric Sean Nelson.

Embarassed by Free Republic’s notice, they quickly run away, tripping over their trousers.

OMG, just look at that slob!

[[Umm, Erik? Most of us who are civilized and educated don’t use that word anymore.]]

We do use it, but not to describe children who are have learning difficulties- We use the word to describe people like Erik- The word has been retired when discussing people with learning difficulties, or developmental difficulties, but I think the word should be ressurected to describe people like Erik who obviously have difficulty understanding that he’s a moron with no class whatsoever.

Bill will cash in. He loves to point at the bad guy. He made Al Pacino in “Scarface” feel welly, weally, bad too.

The Huffpoo will never live this down. Their non-apology will last as long as Letterman’s.

I’ve already posted it to my Facebook. One “friend” from the old days no doubt saw it. He will say nothing. He thinks the Huffpoo is great.

The degenerates who flock to the HuffPo are the same scum who viciously and virulently attacked McCain all last year while simultaneously fawning over the Chigago Gangster/Marxist Muslim who's persona fits right in with their demented view of the world.

Between January and July, They went, nonstop, accusing him of not being a natural-born citizen, and demanding that McCain show his birth certificate.

McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone to two parents who were serving our country overseas.

They were more than happy to spread rumors that he was born in Colon, Panama, and not born in a US Protectorate, and was therefore not a natural-born citizen and not eligible to be President.

It was the Left who cheered on the lawsuit challgening McCain's citizenship status.

It was the Left who continued, unabated, to question McCain's citizenship status a month after Obama posted a bogus image of a “Certification of Live Birth” (COLB) on his website, which they defended in what is a classic case duplicitous behavior.

They were also very content to spread smears about John's patriotism, calling him a traitor and collaborator by giving credence to a vicious rumor that he was willingly giving military secrets to the Viet Cong, after “buckling under a little pressure.”

This is a textbook case of projection, where the Left projects onto others their own distorted view of reality, especially in regards to the Vietnam War — where the leaders of the left, Jane Fonda, Tim Hayden, and John Kerry, really were collaborating with our enemy in the most traitorous of ways.

There were, simultaneously, defending Obama’s patriotism, which is an oxymoron because Obama really loathes America, loathes our values and beliefs, loathes the Constitution, loathes the American armed forces, and loathes anyone who loves America.

The same goes for his wife, who said after the election, that for the first time in her adult life, she felt really proud of America. Translated, it means that she STILL loathes America, but loves the fact that a black man is in the White House. I have no doubt that she would feel just as proud if a different black man had become President, like Rev. Wright, Jesse Jackson, or Louis Farrakhan.

We all know the true story of McCain's bravery, and how he was so badly injured by the torture, that he couldn't lift his arms.

But, the sick f**ks in the Obama Campaign and the HuffPO ragged on him for not being able to use a computer to write an email, totally ignoring his war injuries, and implied that he was stupid to type instead of being physically unable to type (which he can do, but with great difficulty).

When the Daily Kos posted that bogus scan image alleged to be Obama’s COLB, their reaction was to step up their attacks on McCain, demanding that he show his real birth certificate, and thereby ignoring what had happened in the Senate with regard to certifying him as a naturalk-brn citizen.

They continued to question his patriotism when it was vlear as day that Obama had zero patriotism and zero love for America. The only thing he truly loved was himself and political power.

These behaviors show just how utterly hypocritical are the mindless drones on the HuffPo forum. Their use of foul language and vicious personal attacks on anyone who didn't think as they do, would have gotten themselves booted off of every conservative forum you can name.

If you want to blame a group of people for putting Obama into office, blame them.

If you want to blame a group of people for supporting the dirtiest, slimiest, and outright illegal Presidential campaign, blame them. They had not problem trashing George Bush and equating him with Hitler, from the time he took office until he left it.

If you want to blame a group of people for encouraging pyscopaths like James Von Brunn, blame them. They tried to claim that Von Brunn was a “rightwing extremist,” but everything he did and say exactly mirrors what the heathens at the HuffPo say every day.

They are rabidly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel, and they even have their own, resident Palestinian Propaganda machine in James Zogby, who writes these “tear-jerker” stories about the “suffering of Gazans” without ever mentioning the cause of that suffering, Hamas, who, for eight years, deliberately attacked civilians with 14,000 rocket and mortar attacks.

The members of HuffPo are band enough, but there are large numbers of people who don't read it, but who think and act like their members do.

This is the ugly face of the Democratic Party: vile, vicious, and unAmerican villians who slither from one attack thread to another like snakes in the grass.

They are the ones who love Letterman whenever he bashes Sarah Palin, nonstop, every week for 10 months. That's why they published that disgusting article about Palin.

This is the same mentality that applauded Wanda Sykes’ comment that Rush Limbaugh's kidneys should fail.

This is exactly their kind of macabre humor.

They call us “rightwing conspiracy nuts,” but it's the leftwing who have spin so many bizarre conspiracy theories, they would need their own National Archives and Library of Congress to hold them all.

Any time you get depressed about what is happening in this country, go to their website, and change that despair into despisement for being the instrument of insanity.

I think you nailed the Huf Post pretty good.

They are a band of typical dem rats. All emotions all the time, little common sense and few if any new ideas other than tax, spend and try to conquer us.

I have listened and watched Ariana Huffington many times on TV and most of the time she comes off(in adition to starved for attention) as not too bright, and that's being charitable.

The rats probably see her as a useful idiot and have basically taken over her site for their own use,not that she would have done anything meaningful with it anyway.

Kristinn, thank you for your efforts yesterday. YOU!!! started that ball rolling (and it was a 40lb medicine ball that sent HuffPo running).

I think this whole sad, insulting episode shows how we (FReepers; Tweeters; keyboard kommandos) can make OUR conservative voices ‘heard.’ Quickly!!!

Face it kids...we are employed and have better electronics. Let’s use em!!!

Well stated.

Unfortunately the division their ilk has created will not be easily, or peacefully resolved because they will not listen to reason or fact.

We are in a struggle for this Countries soul and will no doubt have to fight these people to take it back, just what type of fight remains to be seen.
