Knowing that many, many conservatives will absolutely dump on me for saying this, I can't help myself: Sarah Palin's resignation is an appalling dereliction of duty and a highly cynical move to set herself up for a presidental run for which she is manifestly unqualified.

It makes her look like a quitter. Somebody even said her speech was a “poor me” kind of thing. I know many conservatives love her, but she will not recover from this move. The media will see to it. They’ve already portrayed her as being dumb and attacked her family, now they will say she is weak and unable to take pressure. No, her chances of being elected president are just about nil.
I can’t fault her. She’s protecting her family from an endless barrage of abuse.
Evil wins, but it always does so temporarily.
It's very ethical. What is NOT "ethical" is all those "ethics" charges continually thrown her way. These were only going to continue.
Why put up with spending time in court when she should be on the podium preaching the conservative message.
F*** yourself....
There were only 3 candidates that I think were "qualified" to be president in the last election. Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and Bill Richardson. None of the others (that I remember) had any kind of executive experience. And Sarah wasn't even a top level candidate.
I do think this will end her political career though.

One wonders if there is another shoe...
Even if not, this is bad behaviour. She was elected and accepted the job. Unless she took the oath with an escape clause this will kill her chances to be POTUS, with reason.
What if Sarah Palin leaves the Republican Partyshalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
and aligns herself with the American Independent Party
She will have time to REST finally... recharge her batteries and still be a presence in politics if she wants to.
She may be gone for a while but NOT FORGOTTEN. She RAISED THE BAR for the GOP politicians and that is very good.
Nonsense!
No, this just means that the CINOs at the American Spectator are in the tank for Romney.
The political rule book was torn up the day the nation chose Barack Hussein Obama because Oprah told them to.
Lynn Cheney and Palin are the only conservatives that will stand up and say what a horror BO is. Now Palin is free to do this without the ties to her governorship.
No, it makes her look even smarter than before.
Why remain a target? Why not remove yourself from the bullseye and go for a larger podium?
It is all more of the same....pile on!
Hmmm ... anyone speaking out this early has ZERO read on the situation. I’ll take Palin’s judgment any day! Some people you CAN trust with your life and wealth.
Being here in Alaska I have talked to a number of people at our village celebration about this. Most are supportive because they feel that she has done what she said and that for her family she should step aside. Also, some have said, so she can familiarize herself mor with the national issues. A few have repeated what this guy has said. She can not win. If she stays as Gov. people say that she should only focus on Alaska and that that leaves her without a global enough perspective. If she steps down and begins the process of becoming more globally aware then she is derelict. I do not agree with everything she has ever done or says and, so am no apologist, but come on. At what point do we give her a break?
OK, I know she is much loved here at FR, but it doesn’t seem she has a future now. Only time will tell, but I would be amazed if she could even win the Republican nomination.
Eh, what?
