Four times an eBay auction page listing an allegedly genuine copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate from Mombasa, Kenya was scrubbed from the popular Internet site, presumably for violating eBay's policy prohibiting the sale of government documents.
But now a fifth posting promising "the truth" about Obama's birth, this time in the form of a written dissertation sidestepping the restriction against auctioning government documents has remained on the site for hours; and the top bid has skyrocketed past $15,000.

Out of curiosity, what recourse would a seller have if it is determined this is not authentic?
To: jennyjenny
He wouldn’t get any money at all. He tells bidders to be prepared to bring a foresic doc examiner and they have to be satisfied its legit.

Yeah, he’s selling a “dissertation” and bring your document examiner to review it. Sneaky.

You are however welcome to view my dissertation, in person, before making your payment. Feel free to bring along with you a forensic examiner to authenticate my dissertation. You may refuse payment should you find that my dissertation is without merit.

For something this important, don’t you think the seller could and WOULD make boatloads more money bringing the document/story forth himself instead of selling the story (and supposed BC) on Ebay? If the seller can’t get a mainstream news source to pay attention to the document, why would any buyer (like you, for example) be able to do it?
If you had a genuine BC for Obama from Kenya, is this how you would handle it? I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t offer to sell it to the highest, unknown bidder who could be George Soros himself, LOL.

The “dissertation” includes supporting documentation - which is what is really valuable (if genuine). The listing has been worded that way to get around eBay’s ban on selling government documents (like Kenyan birth certificates).

I don't know. I'd be suspect of anything somebody would try to sell before proving its authenticity, by, say, publishing it in a respected media journal.
It just looks like someone trying to cash in on other people's suspicions.

Yes it is. I sure would like to know who is bidding. Hope it goes to someone who will make it public instead of some rat who will protect Obama. Also hope the seller makes a bunch of copies in case the one he/she is selling never sees the light of day.

I don't really do ebay, so admittedly I don't understand the bidding strategy here. Does it make sense for these 2(for the most part) bidders to be bidding against each other every few minutes when it says the item will be up for 8 days?
