Still, even his explanations tend to end with a question mark, like this one earlier this year: I see absolutely no reason for Texas to leave. But if Washington continues to disregard the states and continues to try to force states to change the way that they govern, who knows what may happen?

We (fellow Texian)missed the window of opportunity on this about twenty years ago. There's too many snow birds here now. I've been data that shows approx half of Texas residents are transplants. However, I would agree that “something may be percolating” under the surface. Being that most states are now politically divided fairly closely, I foresee perhaps some sort of alliance driven by individual philosophies and moral values which at first glance suggests another political party. But, that's not what I forsee. I think it will be a movement more forceful than either of the two current parties (Dem's & Repub’s). Just thinking out loud :)
Then you’ll be Azatlan within a decade.
I believe that several states have active movements...Vermont's movement may be larger than Texas....
The fact is, many that never gave a thought to secession, are now actively engaged....
Nah. They’ll take Cali and Arizona long before here.
“Then youll be Azatlan within a decade.”
As opposed to what might happen if we sit on our hands?
Remember, we already kicked Mexico’s ass once.
“.....the possibility is growing.”
Good.
Agreed...the fact that people are divided between those that believe in freedom and limited government and those that trample freedom....for a sliver of temporary security, loaf of bread and a bag of beans....will eventually lead to a formal split.
This has happened repeatedly throughout recorded history... Why would anyone believe we are somehow immune?
...and we won't be if we stay?
Good.
... and I'll second that.
Please explain. I live in Texas and that’s not what I see.
bttt
OK....back up your statement....libtard?
Do you have an argument with freedom and independence? Our forefathers didn't....
We are living in a country with two opposing, irreconcilable worldviews. We need to come up with some sort of arrangement that would force the statists and collectivists to survive on their own.
Absolutely...and they are entitled to their view and.....its consequences.... Those that think otherwise are entitled to the same...so, we can peacefully coexist....in separate countries....
TX ping.
Secession is a course of action that is time to seriously consider. Czechoslovakia is a good example of a nation dividing into two to the satisfaction of the people of both states. I do not wish to live in a Socialist country or one were all decisions about damn near everything is made in one city. Im sure most people on Free Republic are like minded. However, there are many of our fellow citizens that truly want the Nanny state and are quite comfortable with having someone else direct their lives and would not like the rigors and responsibility of free and independent living. Nor or they comfortable living with a Constitutional government that prevents rapid and whimsical changes in government. It is best, therefore to consider dividing this country in two and allowing the people to settle in the one that best suits their disposition.
Maybe CA but not AZ. We are still pretty conservative here and can get something done now that Janet the veto queen is gone. For example, we are on the verge of doing away with the requirement for a license for concealed carry. We also have Sheriff Joe.
