A sign that the Obama administration is willing to publicly challenge Egypt's commitment to parliamentary democracy: various Middle Eastern news sources report that the administration insisted that at least 10 members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the country's chief opposition party, be allowed to attend his speech in Cairo on Thursday. The brotherhood is a Salafist/ Islamist party with branches in many countries, and it does not have a reputation for liberalism and has supported violent campaigns against Israel (and Egypt's own government). It has deep roots in the region and traces its intellectual lineage to Sayyid Qutb, a top American-educated Islamic intellectual who was executed -- or martyred -- by the Egyptian government in 1966. The Brotherhood has direct links with Sunni groups like Hamas in the Palestinian territories. Its standing in Egypt has suffered as of late because of a crackdown by the Egyptian government and a growing frustration that it is too conservative (anti-women's rights, the whole gamut) for a modern Middle East. Still, it's the largest Sunni opposition party in the world, and it's clear that the Obama administration wants to engage the Sunnis -- even the less moderate Sunnis -- in his "Mutual Respect" tour. Hoping to tamp down criticism that by speaking in Egypt, Obama is giving legitimacy to Hosni Mubarak's quasi-dictatorship, the administration also invited leading human rights activists to the speech.

I do not think that it will be delivered in Arabic but I will keep and eye on the Arabs reaction to the speech and post my findings here on FR if there is anything of importance in these reactions that is worth posting.
If someone had told me on 912 we would elect a Muslim President I would have said they are nuts.
They are already here. The U.S. Chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood was created in the 1960s. But to hide the true nature of their agenda, they have over the past decades created a bunch of front-groups that promote themselves as organizations protecting civil rights for muslims in the US.
These front groups include:
Muslim Students Union (the original front-group created to hide the term “Muslim Brotherhood” from it)
Muslim Youth of North America
Islamic Society in North America (ISNA)
Muslim Arab Youths Association
Islamic Association of Palestine (orginizations affliated with it were: United Association for Studies & Research, The Occupied Land Fund, and The Media Office)
Central Committee for Palestinian Activism in America
Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (new name for Occupied Land Fund)
Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) founded 1994
The only question that remains: when will Barack Hussein Obama return to Islam? When will be re-convert back to his original religion? This term? Will he wait until 2010, or 2013 if re-elected?
I agree. The Muslims are playing a game of “good cop - bad cop” to reach their eventual goal of Sharia Law in the US.
They know full well that the “bad cops = Al-Queda, etc” will bomb and commit acts of terrorism that works counterproductive to their goal in the short-term, but what it does is have the US government seek out what they percieve as “moderate muslim groups aka good cops” to formulate policy related to muslims living in the US and the middle-east.
These groups being Muslim Brotherhood front groups like CAIR & ISNA. These groups use the UK blueprint for Sharia Law creeping into american soceity and its laws.
Your seeing it right now with the activity of muslim organizations at universities demanding and getting footbaths, prayer rooms, muslim only hours at sports facilities and segregation of the sexes. Workers at companies demanding mandatory muslim prayer breaks & prayer rooms and suing them in court claiming religious discrimination if they don’t get them. The muslim brotherhood instructs these groups to use terms like “reasonable accommodation and civil rights” when what they really are demanding is islamic segregationist policies.
Barack Hussien Obama is a perfect tool to speed all this along. They see him as one of Sharia Law’s useful idiots.

Obama was never officially baptized. There is no official baptism certificate to be had. He did one of those walk down the aisle and profess your faith thingies like used to happen at the Billy Graham evangelizing campaigns, but no official baptism. There is for the girls and Michele, but not for Obama himself. And the reason I believe he never got officially baptized was specifically because he knew it would be against his Muslim upbringing and he didn’t want to break the tie that bound. obama is still a Muslim deep inside himself. And now it is starting to resurface and become more obvious. I doubt he will find an official “Christian” church to attend while he is in office in Washington D.C. He hasn’t gone out of his way to find one so far, and he won’t in the future either, I suspect. If Obama could get away with it, I think he would overtly proclaim himself a Muslim again. He’s like Prince Charles of the U.K., he’s enamored of the Muslim religion, but won’t publicly declare it because of all of the flak he’d have to deal with.

In 1980, on the introduction by military intelligence officer Abbud al-Zumar, he became a leading member of the Jama'at al-Jihad of Muhammad Abd-al-Salam Faraj which on October 6, 1981, assassinated President Anwar El Sadat while he was reviewing a military parade. [Muhammad Abd-al-Salam] Faraj, like al-Zawahiri, had been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but became disenchanted with its passivity....Following the Sadat assassination, al-Zawahiri was arrested on a minor weapons possession charge and spent three years in jail. Probably Steny Hoyer- he may as well be Obama's envoy to the Muslim Brotherhood. There was some controversy a while back when ol' Steny went on a "rogue diplomacy mission" to pander to them before - at a time when Condi Rice was refusing to meet with them, and Nancy Pelosi was in the Middle East kissing the butt of the president of Syria on one of her overseas adventures.
