WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Media outlets are reporting that late-term abortion doctor George Tiller has been shot and killed at his church in Wichita, Kan.

Anonymous police sources told The Wichita Eagle other media that the 67-year-old doctor was killed Sunday morning at Reformation Lutheran Church.

Police spokesman Gordon Bassham would not confirm the victim's identity pending notification of relatives but said a 67-year-old "high-profile individual in the community" was shot and killed.

Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortions. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades and he was shot and wounded by a protester in 1993.

This is the Church's Mission statement from: http://www.reformation-lutheran.org/aboutus/mission.html

I am sure the Lord will give Dr. Tiller his eternal reward...

About Us - Mission

Servants of God, guided by the Holy Spirit, to make Christ known.

This is our mission statement, a sort of synopsis or guiding sentence for what we hope to be about, living as God’s people in the world.

Servants of God

As we move through life, we want to serve God. No matter what we are up to in our daily lives – taking classes at the local university, selling shoes at the mall, volunteering at the hospital, designing airplanes, making a home or cleaning someone’s teeth – we want our lives to matter. But how do we serve God? By loving God with all that we are and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We partner with God and care for people and the world. Hospitality. Humility. Compassion. These are some of the words that guide our serving.

Guided by the Holy Spirit

As we serve, how do we know where are we heading? Who is leading us? The Spirit of God works on us - and in us - stirring things up and inviting us to follow, so that we will come to a greater understanding of God and ourselves. Is the path always clear and well marked? Almost never! We are called into both the familiar and the unknown. But we can follow in confidence, trusting that God is leading us and promises to be with us always. Mystery. Discovery. Hope. These are some of the words that mark our journey.

To make Christ known.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, what is our purpose? What are we about in the world? Our jobs do not define us. We are defined by our family – we are children of God. But why are we here? God chooses to use our hands and feet, our eyes, ears and voices to tell the story of God coming to earth for people. God uses us, sinful people, to tell others the great story of a love that is stronger than death. Grace. Faith. Joy. These are some of the words that we encounter in Jesus Christ and each other.

What kind of “church” welcomes a partial-birth baby killer into its congregation?

The kind that say "Who are we to judge?"

While this man is headed to towards his accounting before God, I don't condone nor encourage murder. Whoever would murder someone is committing the same offense as Tiller - thus making them no better - and certainly not a hero. This is not good for the cause of Life.

That being said -

at Reformation Lutheran Church

Does his church condone Abortion? If not, they call themselves "Reformation" Lutheran Church - the Reformation and the Lutherans came out of a return to the Bible and what it says, not what the church in Rome said that it said. If anything, Lutheran's should be even more pro-life than Catholics. But I guess that if they are pro-life, they are against church discipline as The Apostle Paul addressed in 1 Corinthians 5...

I am wondering what kind of person thinks it is OK to kill late-term babies and still go to church?

What church would let an unrepentant baby-killer instead of it unless it agreed with his actions?

Don’t you worry that by celebrating someone’s death and invoking God in the same sentence you make Christians and antiabortion folks look like crazy nuts?

If I had heard that a bomb had killed Osama Bin Laden, I'd have no problem celebrating. Would you?

That point being made, it is the government and God's place to bring justice to men like Tiller.

The gov’t failed to do so, in fact, the gov’t thwarted the bringing of justice.

In a general sense, not just in this case, if the gov’t thwarts justice, and continues to do so, what is the people’s duty?

Update from FoxNews:

(1)A suspect has been taken into custody, but the police will not divulge any other information.

(2)Attorney Dan Monnat said Tiller, 67, was shot as he served as an usher during morning services at Reformation Lutheran Church. Monnat said Tiller's wife, Jeanne, was in the choir at the time of the shooting.

Oh, yuck. What kind of Church is this? Satanic? Obviously they don't study the Bible much.

Tiller's attorneys issued a statement on behalf of his wife, four children and 10 grandchildren.

This church would have to fall in the “apostate” column to allow this man in the doors.

“That point being made, it is the government and God’s place to bring justice to men like Tiller.”

The hand of God can often be cruel when dispensing poetic justice...

That said, while I will never condone murder, the prhase etched on the wall at the justice Department says it best;

“Where Justice Ends, Tyranny Begins”

“Our job is not to play defense, it is to NOT ALLOW them to box us in to begin with. You know they will try to lump us all together with the shooter. Be vigilant. Do not allow them to categorize us as one in the same!!! You now know how the game will be played, stand firm.”

Then “frame the Debate” in the very same way The Democrat Party, and it’s allies in the media/KOS would do.

Desribe Tiller’s death as:
“A VERY Late-Term Abortion in the 272nd Tri-mester.

YOU wouldn’t stand against ABORTION, would you, Ms. Gay Network News Segment Producer? That would be VERY un-PC, you know!”

To me, I just see this as “stepping it up a notch”.

The left wants unfettered abortion along with oppression of their political opponents,

and we’re just as adamant about saving babies and maintaining our freedom.

They’ll take this as a sign for the need for more oppression of political opposition, and we’ll necessarily push back.

This is the same church that preaches 'we must support the Palestinians' and claims Israel is an aggressor nation illegally occupying Arab land:

http://www.thelutheran.org/article/article.cfm?article_id=8162&id=1

That is just two reasons why I was forced to leave the ELCA. The other is the local church was performing illegal same sex marriages in secret. My very close friends in California were also forced to resign from the church over illegal same sex marriages. Half the congregation walked away rather than stand behind an gay-activist female pastor. The loss is the ELCA's, not mine.

I will not attend a church that supports lying Palestinian propaganda and secretly performs same sex marriages.

'Nuff said on FR.

I saw nothing in post 81 about atonement for sin, or man's need for a savior. I saw none of the Scripture which makes it clear that man is condemned to eternal separation from God unless he comes to salvation through Jesus Christ's atoning death.

I saw nothing that would lead me to believe that the primary purpose of he Reformation Lutheran Church is to lead people to salvation in Christ and to help people grow in their faith in Christ which after, all, is what Jesus established His church for.

I saw a lot of narcissistic, I-feel-good-about-myself-now, watered-down "we partner with God" nonsense (hospitality????)- nothing about a sin debt that creates a vast gulf between man and God and must be settled before God will work His will out in that person's life or use that person to accomplish His purposes on this earth.

The perfect church for Dr. Tiller.

"This church would have to fall in the 'apostate' column to allow this man in the doors."

This church is already in the "apostate" column.

It's a member of the ELCA, the arch-liberal Lutheran Synod. This synod supports all forms of abortion, the homosexual agenda, is a member of the far-left International and National Council of Churches, on and on.

Just the kind of church Tiller felt comfortable with because he knew it wouldn't throw him out of its doors because of his evilness.

Tiller in church- what kind of church?

A liberal one. Reformation Lutheran Church is Evangelical Lutheran Church in America which tends to be more liberal than other Lutheran branches. It varies a lot by church and pastor though. They are not all that far from their creation as an amalgamation of various Lutheran church denominations, and many individual churches retain much of their original identity.

The Missouri Synod tends to be the more conservative denomination.

They are having a special "Healing Prayer Service tonight May 31 at 7:00 pm at the church with Bishop Mansholt". Tiller was serving as an usher when he was shot. Operation Rescue, the anti-abortion group, issued the following statement:

We are shocked at this morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

I think we should take our cue from them.

Are we going to get into the degree of the sin? For example lying vs. killing. I have repented for sins that I still repeat, coveting would be a good example. The Church should not condone his sin, but abandon his soul? What sins have you repeated after repenting? I do not believe that he has repented these particular sins. I just have a hard time not allowing someone in the doors of my Church. Maybe something will finally stick. As a Lutheran I am ashamed of him. Sometimes I am ashamed of myself too.

WHO KILLED HIM????? What LOUSY reporting...it doesn’t mention WHO KILLED HIM!!

Name has not yet been released. He originally successfully fled the scene, after threatening some men who tried to subdue him. He was captured many miles from Wichita, in Gardner, KS, 160 or so miles away.

This will be used against the pro-life movement, the RKBA movement, and conservatives in general.

Listen to all of you so concerned about what the left will say, what the media will report. Rules your day, runs your life,

Ever heard of knowing your enemy, and trying to determine his next move? The military calls the branches that do that "intelligence".
