This is a fact.
I work with at-risk kids, and when people at work babble this *&^%, I just shake my head.
This is the world we live in: It's now considered a hate crime to say that when a male has sex with another (unwilling, younger) male--aka pedophilia--it's a homosexual act.
When someone mentions this foolishness to me, I say "So when a male rapist attacks a woman, he's no longer a heterosexual, and it's not a heterosexual act--he temporarily becomes asexual?"
The issue here is: what is a paedophile? If you answer, as would most professional psychologists since the term was first used in the 19th century, that a paedophile is an adult who is attracted to pre-pubertal children, then the vast majority of clerical offenders are not paedophiles. I Ireland and the UK, as in the US and Canada, the majority of victims (80% +) are post-pubertal male teenagers. This is the question raised by this article; it cannot be avoided.
Why does “to catch a predatory” only dangle girls and not boys? It’s starting to piss me off.

i have seen the statistics. For pre-pubescent children, gays no more likely to be perps. For teenage victims, gays way way more likely to be perps. Which is the scenerio the church is dealing with. Technically the term is pederasty for teens, pedophilia for pre-pubescent... but popular usage today, they use pedophilia for both?
The truth cannot be tolerated unless it comes from the “Ministry of Truth” in today’s United Kingdom.
Wow, this is one of the few threads I have seen that has an intelligent discussion of the issue without devolving into Catholic bashing.
And in the meantime, I am glad I am not holding my breath waiting for the Drive By Media to focus its attention on the more current (as in its happening now vs. 20 years ago) and significantly more far-reaching problem of pederasts preying on our children in the public schools.

If a man has sex with men and also molests boys, then he is a pedophile who is homosexual. If a man is only sexually attracted to pre-pubescent boys then he is a pedophile and the term homosexual isn’t really relevant, anymore than a man who only has sex with a pre-pubescent girl is a heterosexual.

The majority of the abuses were done to young men. Plain and simple!
Hence the majority of the abuses were done by homosexual priests.
Now is he saying that all homosexuals are pedophiles? He is merely stating that the abuses that were done in the church were perpetrated by homosexuals.

There is no such thing as a “gay man.” There *are* men who suffer from same-sex attraction disorder, but the word “gay” is entirely inappropriate to describe this condition.
