Yes, I just discovered him. I am a tad surprised a person as powerful as he would just now show his true colors.

We love Cheney for his plain talk. e.g. the famous "so" response.

so

Cheney is a professional, a patriot, and a grown up.
Obama is neither.
Nuff said.

ditto

I love to hear his voice...he’s so calming. It’s a shame we barely heard from him the last 4 years. 85% of the media never wanted to give Cheney or Bush any publicity whatsoever...they have to somewhat now. Too many people are starting to wonder what’s going on and it’s gradually getting to the point where they can no longer blame it on Bush/Cheney. Too many people who had their heads stuck in the sand for the last 3-4 years are starting to wonder what is going on...

What happens is the media knows Cheney is smart and when he talks he can connect to thoughtful people. The media constantly demonizes him because he is a real conservative and he is smart. He gets the Palin treatment.

So you don’t hear from him in months and in the interim - the left wing media has been calling him the evil devil for months. You then hear him again and say “Oh my God - this guy is smart and he gets it.”

He is not flashy - just good old American common sense & lots of smarts which is sadly lacking in DC or on TV.

The debater succeeded in making his points better than the speechmaker because while the President is justly celebrated for his vaunted eloquence, he phoned in his speech and thought that the use of pretty words alone would allow him to carry the day. Meanwhile, the Vice President--no one's idea of a charismatic rock star--was forced to make up for his lack of a silver tongue by tightly and carefully constructing reasoned arguments to support his position.

Excellent summary.

Fred Thompson would have destroyed Obama in the debates and ditto Cheney. Even Mitt would have trounced him. Instead we got that “my friends” bullsh*t from Juan McCain.

The President cannot do that.

Huh? What is the logic behind that statement? I would love to have an intelligent President who is plainspoken and capable of presenting carefully reasoned and sensible arguments. Instead we get President Pocket Lint and Fluff spouting inanities meant to warm the cockles of 20 somethings and leftist kooks, all the while leaving us defenseless and exposed. This country is dying for adult leadership and Cheney can certainly provide that.

Obama was bent over and violated like a thin wristed inmate today. Now if Cheney can pull out that weather machine and send a hurricane to 1600 Pennsylvania we could all rest easier.

Always loved Cheney and his wife....Bush never defended himself, he should have, I quit defending him when he wouldn't speak up for himself...I don't think he thought the Presidency was beyond defending himself...He did great on keeping us safe, but was shi! on domestic policy...sucked up to the democrats because he agree’s with them on policy...Kennedy, border security etc.....he stunk. But he is a nice man. His wife is a true lady...

Can’t believe you were not a fan of Cheney. That is a man!
If there is any two I would trust my country with it is Cheney and Bush.

Don’t harass Bush for keeping quiet now. He said he did not feel it was his place to speak. And, he is will stand by that.

I think Bush has had enough of Washington.

If this guy is so sure waterboarding and other EIT didn't get results then why isn't he pressuring Bozo daily, in the press, to release the memos that show what it did, or didn't, accomplish. Similar to the BC that never gets shown, if you refuse to release the memos that means that there is probably something in them that doesn't look good for Bozo. If waterboarding, insects in the cell and the other fake torture methods didn't glean any info then why is Bozo obviously afraid to declassify them?

This idiot should be pressuring Bozo constantly to release them to teach Cheney and the rest of us dirty conservatives a lesson.

None of the Drive bys are pressing for it for the simple reason they know it saved lives and they don't want to show the country what a bunch of dumb a**es the left is composed of.

Bush was not in submission. Are you from DU?

What did you expect - a fist fight?

We do have elections and peaceful transfers of power. And, it is unbecoming for a president to try and steal the stage from the new president. Bush acted with class as he did the whole 8 years.

Get over Bush.

I write as one who believes that torture rarely is justified. And I write as one who believes that the patient and ingratiating questioning of terrorists conducted by the FBI has done more to give the United States actionable intelligence than have the interrogation methods implemented by the CIA--methods that were used by people who meant well, but who did not get as much valuable intelligence as did their FBI counterparts...nephew works with a lot of Navy Seals - he says they "just laugh" when they hear this nonsense about rough questioning techniques not working - "every body has a breaking point and most don't take too long to get there" is a typical comment - fortunately not everyone is as naive and foolish as the guy who wrote this article.....

Why can’t a president be a spokesman for the American people? That comment strikes me odd.

Do you really think the President is a spokesman for the American people? I think that time has passed. He's a spokesman for big business or whomever gives the biggest bucks to his candidacy.

Sad but true. I think our time has come and gone unless we fight to regain our the Constitutional God given rights. Government has become too powerful and it's time for it to stop.

You are right there, Regan sure as he** did it, told it like it was and turned the left's stupid statements back on themselves. The reason Cheney didn't speak out as much as VP was because the VP has to reflect the Presidents policies, no matter how much he hates them.

"But at the very least, the Vice President tried to persuade, unlike the President, who simply thought that he could substitute rhetorical razzle-dazzle for argument."

Well, why not?

After all, it was little more than "rhetorical razzle-dazzle" that got Obama elected to the highest office in our land.

Right - they ought to listen to Rush’s tape of his unscripted speeches. Filled with ers...ers....ahs....can hardly get a sentence out.

And, I have always been one more impressed with the character and the man rather than talking skills. Many of the Washington variety seem so superficial looking only at who is “in” or “out” of the Washington crowd and the manner of speech, where they went to school.

Which shows you why they are enamored of a Bill Clinton (white trash), a Ted Kennedy (a drunk killer and pompous rich man), a John Edwards, and the whole Chicago gangland crowd of Obama.

They might consider measuring the worth and ability of the man rather than stage readiness.

Yes when I saw that it was from CBS I got a huge smile. CNN and MSNBC can kid themselves but someone at CBS saw the same speech I did.
