WASHINGTON - Congress on Wednesday sent President Barack Obama a bill with sweeping new rules for the credit card industry that will affect just about every American.
...Included in the bill is an unrelated measure by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., that would allow people to bring loaded guns into national parks and wildlife refuges.
The House approved that provision separately on Wednesday by a 279-147 vote.

In this case sure. But it would have made the president personally responsible for every bit of pork.
No mention of a requirement for concealment of the weapons?
It seems like concealment was required in the original Dept.of Interior version.
So, when BO signs this, is it immediately the law of the land? As it happens, I was planning on visiting a National Park on Friday.
“No mention of a requirement for concealment of the weapons?”
If you have to conceal to carry in the state, you have to in the park, if not no.
“It seems like concealment was required in the original Dept.of Interior version.”
Same effect. Just worded differently. In most cases “legal in the state” means concealed. If you are licensed to carry in the state you are standing on, you are ok in that part of the park. If a park straddles state lines and you walk over the line out of you home state, you have to have reciprocity with that state.....

Don’t know — Usually federal laws go in immediately. If you rely on it, should carry something to show the Ranger if necessary - might save going through the frustration of getting arrested because he hadn’t heard.
On the other hand, It is concealed, right:-)
IMHO, they got him by the short hairs.

105 rats!
277 is the one.
That's just a fact of life. Somebody loans you a hundred grand for 30 years, that represents a long term investment and the interest can be nothing less than significant else no sane person would front the money. And if you invest the same hundred grand for 30 years you're going to want a similar return I'd be willing to bet.
But while the amortization table looks bad when you see it as you sign the loan docs, at the end of the game the lender has profited a reasonable amount considering the time frame, and you should have at least broke even in terms of property value vs. total of principal and interest payments. Assuming everyone can ride out the sucky periods such as we are experiencing now.
Alternative would be for the long term investor to just buy the property and rent it to you, giving the investor perhaps the same return but nothing for you.
So mortgage interest, especially at today's rates, is a real bargain.
“think there will ever be a bill to control the amount of interest you pay on a MORTGAGE? paying 2-3 times the amount of the sales price on a house has always seemed outrageous to me”
Pay cash or suck it up!
You’re getting off cheap!
“(we have 3)”
Why would anyone need more than one?
Banks, which oppose the legislation, will need to make up the cost somewhere, and cardholders who pay off their balance in full each month could see new annual fees and lucrative rewards programs canceled. Credit could become harder to come by too
More rewards to losers, more punishment to responsibile folks. Typical.

does this mean one can charge a handgun and then not pay for it?
Well, from what I heard it wasn’t so much to limit the rates per se, but to limit sudden changes in the rate, as in you have a card with a rate at 10.0% then they tell you starting next month, it’s going to be 19% per year. But it also limits the size of punitive fees too, like late payment and so on.
Another word of warning along those lines- don’t have any loose ammo in your vehicle. I know a man that carried a pistol in his briefcase while working in California- in spite of the laws because he had to do business in very dangerous neighborhoods. He was stopped one day for not having a front license plate; even though his home state did not require or issue front plates. When he reached into the glove box for his registration and proof of insurance the cop saw a bullet and that was all the PC he needed for a search. Supposedly that is not really enough for a search- but the crazy judge allowed it to stand.
Pistol in briefcase was found and the man was arrested- lots of trouble. The irony was the bullet in the glove box was for a firearm that he didn’t even own any more- it was just a random loose bullet.
I have heard of this type of thing happening to others.
I don’t know. Do the Home Depot and Sears cards really count?
That’s good practice.
” paying 2-3 times the amount of the sales price on a house has always seemed outrageous to me. No one advertises a 100k house for 225k after 30 years. Just a thought.”
Then buy your house with cash. Just a thought.
“Why would anyone need more than one?”
Did you forget the sarcasm tag?
