Well, I ignored the law anyway. When traveling, I am armed, as I am all the time. So, what am I suppose to do as I come to Yellowstone, dig a hole and bury the gun and come back and get it after leaving the park? Don't think so. I still had it in the vehicle. All you do is simply obey all traffic laws, do nothing to get yourself stopped, so that they want to do the ole vehicle search. Most stupids are usually breaking some type of traffic law that gets them stopped, then the cops ask to search, etc., or a dog sniffs, and finds it. Simply, obey the law when you are traveling in those states that do not allow you to have a loaded weapon, then you will be fine. The only thing you have to worry about, is if you blow some thug away who is trying to rob, kill you, or rape your wife. But, in that case, to hell with them, I am going to shoot his ass and worry about the other later. Dead, I couldn't worry about it later.

Another word of warning along those lines- don’t have any loose ammo in your vehicle. I know a man that carried a pistol in his briefcase while working in California- in spite of the laws because he had to do business in very dangerous neighborhoods. He was stopped one day for not having a front license plate; even though his home state did not require or issue front plates. When he reached into the glove box for his registration and proof of insurance the cop saw a bullet and that was all the PC he needed for a search. Supposedly that is not really enough for a search- but the crazy judge allowed it to stand.

Pistol in briefcase was found and the man was arrested- lots of trouble. The irony was the bullet in the glove box was for a firearm that he didn’t even own any more- it was just a random loose bullet.

I have heard of this type of thing happening to others.
