Soy Protein Used in "Natural" Foods Bathed in Toxic Solvent Hexane
Natural News ^

Posted on 05/20/2009 12:29:09 PM PDT by Scythian

Virtually all "protein bars" on the market today are made with soy protein. Many infant formula products are also made with soy protein, and thousands of vegetarian products (veggie burgers, veggie cheese, "natural" food bars, etc.) are made with soy protein. That soy protein is almost always described as safe and "natural" by the companies using it. But there's a dirty little secret the soy product industry doesn't want you to know: Much of the "natural" soy protein used in foods today is bathed in a toxic, explosive chemical solvent known as hexane.

To determine the true extent of this hexane contamination, NaturalNews joined forces with the Cornucopia Institute (www.Cornucopia.org) to conduct testing of hexane residues in soy meal and soy grits using FDA-approved and USDA-approved laboratories. The Cornucopia Institute performed the bulk of this effort, and NaturalNews provided funding to help cover laboratory costs.

The results proved to be worrisome: Hexane residues of 21ppm were discovered in soy meal commonly used to produce soy protein for infant formula, protein bars and vegetarian food products.

These laboratory results appear to indicate that consumers who purchase common soy products might be exposing themselves (and their children) to residues of the toxic chemical HEXANE -- a neurotoxic substance produced as a byproduct of gasoline refining.

Reminds me of the conversation with the Groaci from Keith Laumer's Retief of the CDT:

Retief: "Come on, Shilth, even you must admit it was a bit much, selling plastic frankfurters to those poor backwards hot-dog lovers."

Shilth: "How to we to know their inferior metabolisms were incapable of assimilating wholesome polystyrenes?"

Cheers!

Maybe that’s why one their commercials has flames coming out of a man’s mouth after he eats one.

Maybe vegetarians are responsible for global warming...some pretty potent gases are expelled from their rears.

And from the other end of their alimentary canals as well.

I’ve kind of lost track of this thread, sorry, here is my story and journey back to good health from a particular kind of hell you never want to know. Without a single doctor willing to help, even mocked by some doctors, but I’m healthier now with Morgellons that most are without it. I am very damn hard to kill, armed with the truth about the human body, how disease works, and how to overcome it ...

Thanks for you post!

Yes

Most heart attacks are caused by lack of Magnesium, all Americans are low. See

http://www.petergillham.com/product-line/peter-gillhams-natural-calm.php

and

http://www.petergillham.com/pdfs/Calm-Organic.pdf

Look up on Google these two words together, heart and magnesium, I cannot stress it enough, besides that, it powers almost every aspect of your body.

I nuke a cup of water for 1 minute 10 seconds, put in a teaspoon or two, it fizzles, disolves, and then you drink it like a tea, start off with half teaspoon, I love the stuff ...

Oh ya, it is, you will notice it right away, don’t take it right before bed or you lay there wide awake, not feeling bad, but feeling great, Mag = Energy, this stuff is totally awesome. I damn near died from lack of Magnesium. Your blood levels won’t reveal low mag becasue your body will pull it from your bones and muscle otherwise you’d be dead, meanwhile, your body is absolutely starving and your heart contracts and cannot relax or vise versa and you die from a heart attack, which all too often is nothing more than a lack of Magnesium.

I work in an industry that uses BOTH soy protein concentrate and processed soybean meal.
Are there soy plants out there using hexane.
Yep.
But many processors are switching to other methods due to EPA regs on solvent use, cost, FOOD SAFETY!!!, and pressure from customers and consumers.
Hexane extraction will be with us for some time, but it's on the way out.

Thanks for this info. I've saved your page and will follow your "menu."

2008 was hell and 2009 isn't much better. Antibiotics saved my life and leg 3 times, but almost killed me, too. One consulation, my hair is growing back.

A physical therapist told me last year about how the process of filtering our water supply leaches out magnesium - that we need that mineral. He learned of it from a local water company employee, who was concerned that a lack of magnesium was causing more cancers.

So, I started drinking daSani (a CocaCola bottled water), which claims to include magnesium. Till a friend told me that he had worked at a processing plant - had seen the units break down but they just kept on filling bottles.

A home nurse advised me to mix SoySilk with a packet of Carnation breakfast - a brief breeze could blow me over, and I need some calories. Solid food is often repulsive to me.

I do sincerely thank you!

You’re welcome, you’ll never get enough Magnesium from such things, use the Calm I suggested.
