Unemployment rate hits 8.9%

I wouldn’t count on the people rising up to retake the nation. Roosevelt proved that no matter how bad it gets, the people will back you if you use soothing tones.
“In the past, I ran projects like that maybe 15 times, moving upwards of 1000 servers... They tell me I dont have enough experience to move 100 servers.
Then I apply for a position as a Project Coordinator, doing all the admin. They tell me I am overqualified.”
.
But I’ll bet they have a cheap H-1B or L-1 lined up who is a perfect fit for that job “no American is willing/able” to do.

That’s a lower number than was cut in March. It seems to be on the right trend, no?
Bullcrap you pseudo-Okie.
Heh heh...missed the joke on that one, eh? That’s what I like to tell people about Oregon as well.
“Thats a lower number than was cut in March. It seems to be on the right trend, no?”
.
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. It seems to me that the actual # of jobs cut is frequently updated/increased after the original release.
And don’t forget 138,000 legal new workers are still being imported each month.
The higher pay of Washtenaw county is why I landed here snuggled up against the county line. Much cheaper living in Jackson county and working in better paying Washtenaw. Funny thing is that they whine about us taking money out of their county but can’t connect their taxpayer funded salaries to the taxes we pay.
In my experience, the college kids won’t work the factory jobs. Those are mostly taken up by Jackson and Lenewee county people.
Still, it seems like a “mustard seed” (a little Larry Kudlow lingo there). Employers are cutting LESS jobs than they have previously.
I’ve contemplated starting up a company that paints things green. I’ll bet that there would be unlimited grants and gov money available. Depends on the definition of “green”.
Thank you.
But of course, I am sure this number is still Bush's fault even though, according to my leftist friend, he was responsible for every job loss during his presidency.
1. there aren't that many factory jobs in the immediate Ann Arbor area anyway, andHaving a prospective employer find out that you are a student, thinking of becoming a student, or a recent student was the kiss-of-death for a jobseeker. (And it's why you have Ph.D. candidates driving cabs in Ann Arbor).
2. factory managers don't feel like handing those jobs to college students (because the manager feels the student will bolt when he finds a better job).
“The sooner it collapses the sooner we can rebuild.”
I used to think that was a bit too Machiavellian, but it may be the only possibility now.
[Cleaning the coffee off of my monitor]
This yankee in cowboy boots just called me a pseudo-Okie.
Anyone want to vouch for me?
539K lost jobs and 8.9% unemployment — somehow this is called “recovery” and Dow futures are up over 100. Were Bush in office, the “media” would term this “spiraling unemployment with no end in sight.”
The difference between last month and this month coincides to the number of temporary government employees who were hired to document homes via GPS for the 2010 census. Guess how much these folks are being paid, and how long they'll have a job?
There's been no real change (though I wish there had been for the sake of us all).
LOL! When I lived in North Dakota, we used to boast that 40 below kept out the riff-raff.
Hours required for a factory job is a real problem for a college student. Also the fact that the factory jobs are outside the city is an issue as well.
When I first started working in Manchester, I did 12 hour days, 7 days a week for 4 months before my first day off. The advantage of all the hours was the fact that I went from an off the street temp to a full time department foreman in under a year. That’s something a college kid just can’t do.
Good grief, I missed the joke. Sorry. But good call on the Yankee thing, you know my screen name is guido (a nickname I got while in the military) and all. Bigot fail.
This is bad. Has the stimpuke helped you get a job yet?
