The BBC TV series Darwin’s Dangerous Idea (caused "Creator to shimmer and vanish like a mirage")
CMI ^ | Philip Bell

“Charles Darwin and his followers have shown how all life on the planet evolved from a single source. The mechanism they call evolution by natural selection means competition, extinction and the emergence of new life forms without the need for a director or conductor. The Creator shimmers and vanishes like a mirage.”

So says political pundit Andrew Marr, one of the BBC’s most senior journalists, in the first of his three BBC2 programmes celebrating evolution and its legacy during the last century and a half. While there was much to agree with in this thought-provoking series, Marr is careful to point out, “At a stroke Darwin had demolished the biblical account of creation.” Of course, it’s hardly surprising to see that the BBC would be celebrating Darwin, given its self-confessed anti-Christian bias. At a 2006 “impartiality” summit called by its chairman, Michael Grade, “Senior figures admitted that the BBC is guilty of promoting Left-wing views and an anti-Christian sentiment. … executives admitted they would happily broadcast the image of a Bible being thrown away—but would not do the same for the Koran.”[2]

Marr himself admitted that the corporation was unrepresentative of British society:

“The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It’s a publicly-funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities and gay people.”

The full implications of Darwinian philosophy are given considerable treatment during the course of three hours of footage, so it is not possible in a short review to do more than distil a few of the many major points made.

The first programme, Body and Soul, shows how evolutionary theory was taken to logical, but extreme conclusions by some world leaders and dictators and has been used to justify war, atrocities, ethnic cleansing and genocide...

Darwin’s dangerous Idea is apparently not so dangerous as Dr. Michael Savage’s dangerous ideas.

Darwin is well aware of his mistake now!

Sounds like they’ve been trying to take lessons from Douglas Adams.

He didn’t do a very good job of disproving God in the kind of reasoning he used in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Heh heh heh.

Without the Christian soldiers, the brights don't have the balls to stand up to the jihadists...who are, ironically, Creationists.

And more intolerant than the worst rantings of the ACLU here in the states.

I'll get the popcorn.

Cheers!

This statement is obscenley stupid.

Let us suppose that Darwin's proposals of origin of life is 100% correct (I think they are basically correct myself), and that organic matter springs from inorganic matter by natural process.

The need for a Creator is not dented in the least. The Naturalist still has the much more daunting task to show how inorganic matter got here without a Creator. How nature has stuff in it. And why the stuff obeys natural laws anyway.

Indeed, it is obvious there is at least something that did not need to be caused by something else. No such thing has ever been found, not could be conceivably found, in nature. Thus this something quite obviously transcends nature. Thus Naturalism, quite obviously is wrong. No intellegent person who has honestly studied the great thinkers can be a naturalist. Its quackery. To see the vacid devotion of it in self promoted "intellectuals" on the BBC, and on FR for that matter is intellectually embarasing to me.

I wonder how many times he’s “been taken to the woodshed” since he died. ;o)

On a Christian biblical view, I don't think he has received final judgment yet. I would rather think we should not worry about him and see to our own salvation. Besides, one can at least hope he accepted grace before he died.

Darwin himself wrote in his Descent of Man that the ‘civilised races’ would exterminate and replace the ‘savage’ ones.

Jeepers, then Darwin wasn't much of a prophet, was he? It seems the very reverse of his prediction is happening nowadays. And Darwin (probably inadvertently) has become the high priest of the savages, at least in the West.

Interestingly, the Muslim world detests him thoroughly: The fulminations of Harun Yahya send doctrinaire Darwinists into grand mal convulsions. (It's fun to watch.)

The bottom line is, without moral absolutes, people believe they are "free" to act like beasts. And an evolutionary process cannot cough up a single moral absolute.

Great article, GGG! Thanks so much for posting it, and for the ping.

So very true.

Thank you for sharing your insights, dearest sister in Christ!

What with how we keep getting reminded that atheists are more moral than Christians and all? Say it ain't so.

And here we keep getting told that science is about truth and has the "answers" . (To what, I"m not sure, but they're "answers".)
