Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!

I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.

Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.

I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.

Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.

I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.

We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.

We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.

We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.

We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!

And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.

And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!

We bow to no king but God!

Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!

Do NOT Tread on US!

Thank you very much!

Hunter is a good man but he doesn’t have what it takes.

What Hunter didn't have was wealth. He just didn't have enough money to compete on the big stage. It didn't have anything to do with not wanting to camgaign for himself. He did what he could with the funds that he had.

The name Barack Obama appeals to the folks that voted him in. They relish all things African-looking, African-sounding and actually African. Sadly, Obama's name is actually trendy and appealing.

"Duncan Hunter" sounds out of date and unworldly.

Again, don't shoot the messenger.

You know... He really should focus-group the various versions of his name.

I am completely perplexed by the absolute hatred for Mitt Romney. He has had positions that I don’t agree with (he was for abortion but now seems to be pro life and he instituted socialized medicine in Massachusetts). Ronald Reagan was for abortion and was a Democrat before he saw the light. Reagan also increased taxes as Governor of California before becoming President and having people like Jack Kemp advise him on helping the economy by cutting taxes.

Mitt Romney may not have all the conservative positions but he is not worthy of the venom being put out there. I would much rather see Jim Robinson and this small group of folks against Romney spend some energy on our real enemies like 0bama, Axelrod, Emanuel, Reid and Pelosi than to go after Mitt Romney.

And what is this "New America" that the RINOs are pushing? Is it like the CHANGE that OBAMA(tm) wanted to usher in?

America already has something that no other country can claim. I don't like seeing the bureaucrats mucking with it.

This says it all. Fight for what is right or go someplace else.

Thanks, Jim!

We need a conservative candidate forum page where, photos, video clips, information, campaign organization and contacts, etc. can be posted and perused by the curious who are searching for the meaning of conservatism. We get trashed in the media and we look like apes to the general public. Education and information about conservatism and those candidates who are conservative and, more importantly, WHY they are conservative will go a long way toward mainstreaming conservative ideas. We have Secretary Napo painting us as dangerous threats because we dare to stand up for what we thought was the American deal. Let's make a POSITIVE difference by using the digital realm to get the word out... THIS is a conservative. Like the NRA ad campaign a while back showing NRA members a s NORMAL people.

I really wish there was a think tank forum beyond the usual ranting where we could bring some executive skills and strategic skills to the process of re-shaping the conservative anger into a potent political force, like Reagan (start filling your pants, Rahm... there are a few intellectual conservatives out here)...

“We get trashed in the media and we look like apes to the general public.”

We do need to work with all we’ve got here. But check out the tea parties - who looked like apes and morons but CNN and MSNBC. To some degree, we’ve got to circumvent the trad media and go viral on their butts. That’s why I generally love the Tea Party movement. Let’s roll!

Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

JST etal...

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you much more to DO.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am proud and devious in heart: and ye shall find weariness unto your souls.
For my yoke is cumbersome, and my rules are many.

If that’s the case, and he couldn’t drum up enough support (money or otherwise since they both go hand in hand) in order to get on the big stage, then it is unlikely that he will do any better next time. Hopefully, he’ll think of something.

For months before the election in discussions with others up here in Alaska, and family & friends Outside, not one of them had ever heard of Duncan Hunter.

Post 1144

I agree with you, this thread kind of turned into a riot and Romney was their target. The Republicans did not have much of a lineup and they lost. President Bush draws the same animosity as Mitt Romney and I honestly don’t think there was a person on the ballot that would have done a better job than President Bush did. Certainly not McCain, and I think Thompson had shown he wasn’t up to the job (especially considering what he would have faced), I had hope for Huckabee at one time but the more I looked at him the more he reminded me of Clinton (plus he seemed unpredictable and a little strange). I thought Rudy Giuliani would have been best at dealing with the opposition and executive experience equal to any of the candidates but there were problems with some of his views and he seemed to push everyone’s buttons.

I think all this energy should be directed to influencing the direction of this country by working to derail the socialist agenda and finding candidates that work towards that end as well as rebuilding this nation. We can then rationally debate their merits as well as their performance. As far as the presidential candidates for next time, I am interested in Haley Barbour, Mark Sanford, Bob Riley, and Bobby Jindal, others are passionate about Sarah Palin. Let’s get on track and prepare for the coming challenges.

I would also like to add that I think GOP_Lady was treated quite shabbily on another thread. She appears to be a credit to this forum, it will be diminished if she, and others like her, are driven out.

Socialism garantees money for some business.

When our local post office needed to repave their 5 car parking area you would have thought that they would have a local contractor do the job. Instead of the local contractor 10 miles away we got the contractor out of Detroit (70 miles away)

When I asked why they did that the postmistress said that she suggested the local company but federal rules dictated that they get a minority owned company to do the job.

In the end it cost several times as much and took nearly a week to do what the local company could have done on a Saturday afternoon.

Good point, kevinm13. I wasn’t a Romney supporter but I’ve been scratching my head over this irrational hatred for him. And what was the point of this thread in the first place? Seems to me all it has done is bring out a bunch of “hell ya’s” and unneeded and unproductive bickering. There are far more productive ways to advance the conservative agenda.
