Far from her home state, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin traveled to Indiana Thursday and reminded Republicans why she remains a party heavyweight and a top prospective presidential candidate in 2012.
Palin drew approximately 3,000 people to the Vanderburgh County Right to Life fundraising dinner in Evansville, an annual banquet that typically attracts some of the GOPs top national talent. Her sold-out appearance in a local exhibition hall prompted organizers to set up a paid closed-circuit broadcast at a nearby auditorium for a large spill-over crowd and led local authorities to close down nearby streets.
This is always a large event, said David OSteen, executive director of National Right to Life. There was a lot of excitement about this among pro-life people. She is very well known and respected in the pro-life movement.
Palin was mobbed by autograph seekers and picture takers as she tried to get into the fundraiser.
Jane Abraham, the general chairwoman of the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports female politicians who oppose abortion rights, called the dinner a very high profile event for opponents of abortion rights.
Its very exciting that she is doing this," Abraham said. Its very refreshing to me as someone who has been involved in the pro-life movement for a long time.
The Alaska governor received a warm reception from Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, also in attendance, at a news conference ahead of the dinner.
I think she is a standard-bearer right now, Steele said. She and Mitt Romney and Governor Pawlenty, Governor Sanford, Rudy Giuliani, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence. We have a significant number of men and women in our party who are in a very good position right now to carry forward the standard of the GOP.

That’s our Sarah!!!!!
That is why they are afraid of her.
See my tagline.
She gave an OUTSTANDING speech in Indiana. Elitist libtards will never understand... this woman speaks from the heart, she walks the walk and fears absolutely no one.
She has more class than John McCain or the left has in their little fingers.
Not a single “uh” in her speech. I didn’t notice any TelePrompTer, either.
Heh...

If you view the 4 minute video you will hear her say how proud she is to have been given the privilege to run in 2008 with a true American hero....and how much she respects the whole McC clan.......even after all the slights and insults sent her way by that poor excuse for a leader and his brain dead daughter....I was struck by her graciousness......Her kind of goodness and greatness will benefit all of us in the years ahead.....GO SARAH !!
thanks for posting the vid!
And with the media’s eager assistance they will destroy her. Make book on that.
SARAH!
Regardless the party.
BTW some debunking of the above “Politico” article. Since the politico is a leftist rathole, it unsurprisingly has some attacks on Palin:

Is there a transcript of the speech available online?
Haven’t found one yet. If there isn’t a transcript until sunday, I’ll write one.
Romney? Pawlenty? Giuliani? We have to get rid of Steele.
How can the media destroy her if she doesn’t care about them?
Exactly. No other politican who would have received the same media treatment would have survived, yet she keeps growing nationally.
In front of an audience of nearly 3,000 anti-abortion rights advocates in Evansville, Ind., Palin described in detail how she struggled with her fifth pregnancy last year and choked up when she spoke about Trig's birth.
"It was a time when I had to ask myself was I gonna walk the walk or I was gonna talk the talk," Palin said.
She said she learned she was pregnant with Trig while she was out of the state at an oil and gas conference.
"There, just for a fleeting moment, I thought, I knew, nobody knows me here. Nobody would ever know. I thought, wow, it is easy. It could be easy to think maybe of trying to change the circumstances. No one would know. No one would ever know."
Ultimately, Palin said she realized she had to stay true to what she'd been saying for years -- that "life is valuable because it is ordained."
"I had just enough faith to know that trying to change the circumstances wasn't any answer," Palin said.
And my comment on the thread: "Temptation to do the easy thing was placed in front of her and she resisted. Very courageous. We do so much need this woman leading our country. "
