CASSELBERRY, Fla. -- A mother shot and killed her son, and then herself, inside a Casselberry Gun Range Sunday afternoon, according to police.
When Casselberry police arrived at the Shoot Straight Gun Range on South U.S. Highway 17-92 (see map) just after 4:00pm, they found two people had been shot in an apparent murder-suicide.
Police identified the man as 20-year-old Mitchel Moore. The shooter, his mother, was identified as 44-year-old Marie Moore.
Eyewitnesses said the pair was acting strangely and then the woman ran out of the room to get more ammunition. When she returned, eyewitnesses said, she shot her son and then turned the gun on herself.
Eyewitness Jim Copertino was in shooting target practice next to the pair and said the mother and son appeared hyper and jittery, as if they were on drugs.
"I noticed both of them were very anxious with each other. She kept getting very close to him and he was firing. She was almost over his shoulder," Copertino recalled. "She ran out to get more ammo, ran back in and then both were down."

A “release” for what? And how do they check for anything that isn’t on the NICS system?
Anytime someone is acting squirrelly at the gun range, either call the rangemaster or blast off.
I would assume this place had a rangemaster...
I would GUESS his mom was the one being antsy and he was probably trying to keep her from pestering him.
This link is from LiveLeak. It’s the range video of the shooting. It shows a little bit of interaction between mom, son and the guy in the next lane. It looks completely normal to me... until the son starts to shoot at his target. At that point, mom is standing behind him. She then reaches up around him, picks up another gun that’s laying in the tray on the firing line, points and fires.
It looks so out of place in comparison to the behavior before the shot that if you didn’t know what was going to happen you’d miss it. No struggles, no acting weird, etc.
Clip is tagged with a ‘graphic warning’. No blood, but you’ll see the shooting from beginning to end.

I’ve done my civic duty.
I’m feeling positive about these races...but then, I believe in Miracles, LOL!
Okay, I’ve never seen anything like that in Pennsylvania and the form does refer specifically to a NJ statue, so it’s not a national/federal thing; but it still only applies (as it says on the top of the form) to “commitment to a non-correctional institution for mental health reasons”. No other type of mental health records would be searched. So if you’ve been seeing a psychiatrist to discuss your suicidal or homicidal feelings, and taking medication to try to deal with those feelings, unless the psychiatrist deemed the problem severe enough to warrant committing you to a mental hospital, the information about your mental health problems wouldn’t be accessible to the police.
