Common Tator is very, very ill, battling cancer...lung, to his liver.
Latest on Common Tator (as of 03-27-2009):
All,
My is so muddled right now, I don’t know who to post this to.
Ray is completly out of it now, not able to speak. I talked to his step-daughter a few minutes ago, and she said it is basically just a matter of time. I was going down tomorrow to see him, but she said that they prefer only close family to be there. Although I feel like I am Ray’s family, I will respect her wishes.
I’m just so blessed that just a few days ago, he gave me his last column, via telephone, which AF Phys helped me with. It’s on another thread.
I hope this post makes some kind of sense. My heart is hurting, I just pray for Ray to have a peaceful passing, and his step daughter said she would call me when that happens.
I can’t imagine my life without him. I guess I am in denial, I don’t know. All I can do is ask for your prayers.
Admin Mod please post the update for me.
Love and prayers,
Lisa
“In His hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:10
Hear our prayer, O Lord ...
Hear our prayer, O Lord ...
Incline thine ear to us
And grant us thy peace. Amen ...
Prayers sent.
Prayers for you all.
I’m so sorry for him and for you. I jousted with him on many occasions. We rarely agreed on much.
I have read your posts before, ever since he became so sick. I know this, if I were in similar circumstances, someone like you would be indispensible as I fought this battle.
Many blessings to you both and a request to the Almighty for the miracle you seek. God be with you, Lisa.
Prayers lifted.
.
We’re thinking of you and praying for you.
Thank you.
Tator's one of my favorite FReepers.
A great intellect with a pen for a sword.
FRegards to a Great guy,
Dave
So very sorry to hear that the cancer has returned. He’s been an inspiration to many. I always enjoyed reading his posts. Prayers for both of you...
I lost my beloved husband to cancer in 2007 and I know that ‘Love Lives On’.
Prayers to CT for comfort and peace, and to you too, Lisa, for confidence in the care and love of Almighty God.
Bless you both...
Prayers sent.
Please give my regards to Common Tator.
He and I certainly had our intense disagreements over the years. But, in the face of the limitations of our mortality, such things tend to pale in importance.
IF you would, tell him that my prayers are with him.
Oh dear.... Prayers for one of the Best FReepers I’ve ever known. And for you too, Lisa. Heartbreaking news. Lord give him peace and comfort.

To Ray: You are a true gentleman, a fine friend, a clear thinker, and a crisp writer. All of us on FreeRepublic will miss you.
“No man is an island, entire unto himself. So send not to ask for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee.”
As they say at the end of Navy funeral services, “Fair winds and following seas.” Prayers are up for you and your family.
With great respect,
John / Billybob

***UPDATE***
Just got off of the phone with Ray, he is very weak, but we had about a 5 minute conversation.
I told him about all of your comments on here, and he was very pleased.
Also talked to his step-son, who has moved in, as now Ray needs someone there with him all the time.....wish it could be me.
I will be going to see him Sunday (my next day off) and I will try to figure out how to print your comments out so I can read some of them to him.
Again, thanks so much to all of you for all your thoughts and prayers. I’m just trying to hold it together, it’s so difficult not being able to be there with him day and night.
I keep telling him he is a fighter, and although I don’t want him to suffer, I can’t bear the thought of losing him.
Love and prayers to all,
Lisa
