Gun Advocates Ready for Battle on Federal Assault Weapons Ban
FOXNews.com ^ | March 17, 2009 | Joshua Rhett Miller

Posted on 03/18/2009 6:38:22 PM PDT by neverdem

Attorney General Eric Holder is using the drug violence in Mexico to "confuse and mislead" Americans in an attempt to reinstate the expired federal assault weapons ban, gun advocates say.

Get ready for a gunfight.

Holder revealed his intention to reinstate the ban last month while announcing more than 700 arrests in connection with a crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the United States.

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to re-institute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder said. "I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum."

Holder said reinstating the ban would decrease the flow of guns from the U.S. into Mexico. He declined to offer a timeframe for any re-implementation; Justice Department spokesman Matt Miller also declined comment on Tuesday.

But Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, told FOXNews.com that Holder's "argument in general is bizarre."

"It's a delusion to say that diminishing the Second Amendment in America is somehow going to stop these ruthless drug cartels in Mexico."

LaPierre called on Holder and Justice Department officials to uphold existing laws and focus on increasing enforcement along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border, rather than consider additional legislation...

That’s why I’ve not joined the NRA or the WAC (Washington Arms Collectors) ... get your name on a list and they’ll be coming for you ...

If you don't already know, in this day and age your name is already on a "list" somewhere. So everyone needs to "man up" and get in the fight, sitting on the sidelines helps no one on this issue.

People sitting on the "sidelines" is how the last "AWB" got passed, that is how the Australian Ban got passed and that is how the British Ban got passed... These bans were put in place while those on the "sidelines" just looked on and said nothing while a handful of people battled the legislation! There are a few videos going around the web now that show these British and Australian "sideliners" and almost to a person they regret not jumping in the fight!

If you do stand up and fight, even if they do come through with a confiscation scheme, you can at least know you did your best to protect YOUR Second Amendment Rights... sit on the sidelines and you can, at the very least, know you are a puss

Join the GOA, NRA and your State/Local Gun Rights Group, get in the fight before the fight comes to you!

I just bought a whole bunch of new ammo and banana clips so they better come prepared.

Banana clips?

I hate when my bananas come apart and scatter all over the place.

Now, some genius has invented the "banana clip".

Why didn't I think of that?

"Diaz said military-style weapons like the Barrett .50-caliber rifle, the Colt AR-15 .223-caliber assault rifle and the AK-47 are "precisely the makes and models of firearms that have been carefully designed, manufactured or imported and heavily marketed over the last 20 years by the U.S. civilian gun industry."

The AR-15s and AK-47s we buy on the civilian market are not military style weapons. If they were, they would go to three round burst and fully auto. Just like the ones that the Mexian drug gangs have. The ones they didn't get from American gun stores. It's a big lie. As for the Barret BMGs, I seriously doubt that any Mexican drug gangs are sniping people from a click out. I'm pretty sure this is another big lie. They have no use for Barretts.

"Signed into law by President Clinton in 1994, the Federal Assault Weapons Ban prohibited the sale of ammunition clips with more than 10 rounds"

Ya' know, I wish these clowns would get their nomenclature correct. Ammo clips are what is used to feed rifles with internal magazines like Garands and 03 Springfields. I don't know of any of these stripper clips that had more than 10 rounds on them. There probably are though. The 94 AWB prohibited the sale of magazines with more than 10 rounds.

As people have already mentioned. Your name is probably already on a list somewhere so I wouldn't even worry about that. It's probably more important to invest your money in the NRA and your state gun organizations than it is to buy another weapon. These are the groups that are protecting your second amendment rights. It was the NRA along with Senators Baucus and Tester that got with DOD and put a stop to this shredding of military brass. Yes, if it ever comes to it I will protect my natural rights from Obama and his minions. However, lets fight them in Washington and at your state level so we don't have to fight in your front yard.

A jackboot gets you past a lot of closed doors and a rifle butt to the head gets you through a multitude of passwords.

For everything else, there’s your pet judge in his little robes dancing to the music of the fedgov organ grinders.

The gun grabbers have the false idea that inanimate objects are capable of moral quality. To assign “things” such characteristics is the ultimate in materialism, which is consistent with Marxist ideology which focuses on the material over the individual.
I think we shouldn’t focus on the details of the possible laws because they will just answer with more extreme laws, but we should attack their premise: -Why should a good citizen, who is acting defensively in using any such weapon be allowed ONLY 10 rounds to defend him/her self? Why is limiting the ability of the law abiding citizen acting in accordance with natural law in the face of evil a good thing? Certainly the evil force involved will not concern themselves with “law”
What this is about is Political freedom and power. Look what they are doing with ACORN and the next Census. They have no principles as to what is right. When guns are banned, people who disagree with those in power tend to disappear in the middle of the night, to be found later in mass graves out of town. It has happened over and over and over again in history. Guns, especially “semi-auto” guns and “Assault Rifles” tend to stifle that practice, and that is how armed Americans never allow such things to even be thinkable... Marxism is alive and growing, we have to stop it.

You know what’s really funny-—Holder is concerned about GUNS! Funny-—if memory serves me right; isn’t he the one who made bombs?

"After Obama’s ACORN minions are finished rigging the 2010 Census, they can be used to go door to door collecting firearms."

That will be fun in my neighborhood.

Remember, confiscation cannot happen all at once,

so no need to lose your life when the confiscations start.

If you are first “on the list”, your job is to stay alive and get the word out.

Then, subsequent confiscations can be met with ORGANIZED resistance.

Agreed.

Still I am sorry for your loss. LOL.

In regards to prison guards. The inmates outnumber them and only let them have their power until it becomes onerous and unbalanced. They cannot stop someone or a group possessed of an ideology and a goal.

Last I heard, “Campfire Girls” was coed and very friendly to “alternative orientations.” Depends on your definition of subversive, I guess.

I know the Girl Scouts are mighty suspicious - and they’re out there right now, recruiting in front of grocery stores all over the country. I’ve heard that they’re also known to be trafficking in something referred to as “Thin Mints” - probably some sort of addictive drug.
