HR 1388, will hit the House floor on Tuesday. It is called the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act (The Give Act.) The House is scheduled to Rule this week. Sponsored by Democrat Representative Carolyn McCarthy (NY), Education and Labor Committee. The objective is to reauthorize and reform the national service laws.
Democrat Rep. McCarthy is sponsoring the bill with 25 co-sponsors, ALL Democrats, including Charlie Rangel. Need I say more.
On July 2, 2008, Barack Obama announced: “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” [Emphasis added.]
Yeah. That was in Colorado Springs(of all places) at the UCCS Fieldhouse. I remember that and it bothered me A LOT and was surprised at the utter lack of interest from the so-called “journalists” in this country.

Not to worry! :)
I think that is part of their strategy. Overwhelm the enemy (us) with so many things, they can't form an effective defense. Everyone needs to pick an issue or two to focus on, find a group that is already fighting for or against that issue and join with them.
We had a draft for decades, in peacetime even. The courts never struck that down, and not for lack of folks trying to get them to do so, especially during Vietnam.
What does repeal of funding limitation mean? The skys the limit?......”
Yep. It’s only our money. It’s not like the dems are gonna lose anything.
Normally, I would apologize for making you cry, but it sounds like tears of pride, and I have them too. As a former big bad Marine, I found myself in tears at the opening of Glen Beck's We have them Surrounded special...I love my country. Hell, I get teary eyed at the opening of NASCAR races during the invocation and National Anthem.
Thanks for the info on the books. As a quick aside, I moved from DC down to the northernmost part of Mississippi a year and a half ago. I am proud to say I am going along with my 11 year old son in American History class for Elementary School...heavy emphasis on the Revolution right now...almost prophetic, but not sure we would be as heavy in it if I still lived outside of DC. I am taking great joy in teaching him not only the history, but the emotions and what it means to us today.
Poor kid, I made him sit with me from 5 to 6 tonight while the History Channel played "The Revolution", which covered the American Stamp Act, the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Little guy might not get my emotions yet, as he asked me a few times why I was choking up, but I know someday he will.
Thanks again for the recommended books...it is not coincidence for me that you offered the info...May God Bless you and yours!
I know you have seen my posts before about doing peaceful protests not at gov steps, but at media HQs (Simultaniously around the country at local affiliates)...Protest left media slant at NBC one day, invite ABC, CBS, CNN, et.al. Tell them we are protesting NBC’s slant. They will come like moths to a flame to feed off of NBC’s misery.
But we do a two-fer...We protest Zer0 and the administration at the same time...too late...they are there feeding off of NBC’s protest.
Wait a week, and do the same thing with the next network, then the next. They will catch on, put we’ll get some time in there before hand.

BRAVO!!! I keep saying the same thing. We need to protest the media. PERIOD!
A picture says a thousand words. Of course I cant repeat those words because I am a Christian.
Bless you both!
Sorry I don't have it in front of me but was amended a few years back - troops can be used domestically under a great many more circumstances. I can see if I can dig up the new, but you might find it before me.
I think I am going to start a thread topic on it tomorrow and see what kind of response I get from it - unless you want to do so tonight? My clock is running down a bit to get into my own topic...lemme know.
I am reading about the stamp act in the book now as I follow the thread. When I read about the fake funeral in NH and they were just about to bury the coffin someone shouted “liberty is dead” Then they drew the coffin up again and carried it crying “Liberty’s Alive again” I got chills all over. That is the cry we need!
Agreed...I think you and I are crying that way now,, and I am seeing more and more waking up to the same emotions, regardless of party or belief. I’m encouraged...still afraid, but encouraged.

Thank you. I saw that months ago on You Tube. I caused me to have a week of sleepless nights. Truly frightening.
When I come to Free Republic, I am also encouraged. It reminds us that we are not alone.
Yup. Don't get between Granny and her Social Security check!
