Your post made me cry! Our youth have no sense of this history.

Normally, I would apologize for making you cry, but it sounds like tears of pride, and I have them too. As a former big bad Marine, I found myself in tears at the opening of Glen Beck's We have them Surrounded special...I love my country. Hell, I get teary eyed at the opening of NASCAR races during the invocation and National Anthem.

Thanks for the info on the books. As a quick aside, I moved from DC down to the northernmost part of Mississippi a year and a half ago. I am proud to say I am going along with my 11 year old son in American History class for Elementary School...heavy emphasis on the Revolution right now...almost prophetic, but not sure we would be as heavy in it if I still lived outside of DC. I am taking great joy in teaching him not only the history, but the emotions and what it means to us today.

Poor kid, I made him sit with me from 5 to 6 tonight while the History Channel played "The Revolution", which covered the American Stamp Act, the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Little guy might not get my emotions yet, as he asked me a few times why I was choking up, but I know someday he will.

Thanks again for the recommended books...it is not coincidence for me that you offered the info...May God Bless you and yours!

I am reading about the stamp act in the book now as I follow the thread. When I read about the fake funeral in NH and they were just about to bury the coffin someone shouted “liberty is dead” Then they drew the coffin up again and carried it crying “Liberty’s Alive again” I got chills all over. That is the cry we need!

He learned more, right there, than your words could ever express...
