Ultimately, all recessions and depressions resolve themselves into crises of confidence. The instant, global, 24/7 communications of today make them ever more so. President Obama, in his pursuit of liberal big-government spending, has totally neglected the role of the president of the United States in reversing global panic.
To the contrary, his every remark and the constant preoccupation of his Cabinet is to heighten the sense of crisis and to escalate the predictions of doom if we do not do as they tell us and raise spending now and taxes later.
Instead of being a firewall, reassuring Main Street even as Wall Street crashed, he has become a conduit of panic, spreading the mood of desperation from the stock exchange floor to kitchen tables across the world.
There are bad loans, which became bad assets, that lie at the root of the crisis. Through deregulation by the government and the greed of financial institutions, they spread to every portfolio in the world.
But these basic facts have metastasized out of all proportion to their real harm into job and financial insecurity for every family on earth. It is President Obama, not the markets themselves, who has spread this fear. A global Paul Revere, he has not only aroused us, but incited fear and trepidation in his wake.
Previous panics have been global in impact, but local in focus. The world panicked because of developments in Mexico or Argentina or Thailand or South Korea.
Now, with collateralized debt obligations spreading the poison of a bunch of bad loans all over the world, infecting every portfolio, the panic is not only global in impact but in focus as well. Modern communications have hastened the spread of the virus of panic throughout the global bloodstream.

Womb to the tomb, gloom and doom. Yeah! That’s “hope” and “change.”
Exactly. That’s what he does.
Obama is selling socialism. America is not a socialist country since most citizens live their own lives, not government controlled lives. So he must lie, cheat, deceive, and scare people into accepting his forced socialism and rape and destruction of the the American Republic.....Rush said it right at CPAC.
Spoke to about a dozen different folks this past week and the one word that everyone used was SCARED.
The man makes Jimmy Carter look good.
Saul Alinsky would be so proud of his student.

Of course, it could be that real Americans know how to write . . .
The big problem here [I believe] is that Obama isn’t doing this intentionally - he’s just sort of stumbling around randomly like a blind man in an unfamiliar room.
Schumer: "The American People Dont Care..."
A friend just called me and said the same thing, and I didn’t know what to tell her. I am not scared, because I trust in the Lord and whatever happens, happens - the only important thing is to get through it with your faith and your integrity intact. And if you can’t, for one reason or another, it’s important at least to feel that you have made every attempt.
I think we’re in for some very bad times. Other than reasonable prudence, I can’t think what to do. Once upon a time, people ran to the US, but obviously that’s no longer a possibility. So I guess we just have to brace ourselves, go about our daily work, and keep an eye to the weather. The whole thing, though, is knowing when the tipping point has been reached; and the bad thing is that Obama is moving very fast.
Marxist dictators depend upon the spreading of fear for their very survival. That is the principle reason Hussein and his minions will have to disarm the American public. These thugs can scam and armed public, but they can’t enslave us completely.
bookmark - luv it!
What ever happened to the old Democrat Party maxim, “we have nothing to fear but fear itself”?
The facts are that we didn’t have a great war, no unprecedented series of earthquakes/tsunamis/cyclones, no black death or other global pandemics. All of the wealth that existed a year ago is still basically there. The only problems are with valuations and investor confidence.
Pretending that trillions in “stimulus” and welfare state payments and bailouts have to be done immediately else “we’ll never get out of it” is as irresponsible as you can get.
In the final analysis, Obama is too small to matter at this point. While the federal government may be able to commit trillions of dollars, the problem is in the tens or even hundreds of trillions of dollars.
Our economy is like the horribly obese Mexican man, Manuel Uribe. Until we get rid of the enormous wall of fat (debt) weighing it down, any other brilliant idea about how he can improve his life is moot.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans still have a weird fantasy that through some miracle the status quo can be maintained.
It can’t. It’s over. The only question is how we get rid of the massive debts that are crushing America.
Social Security is over. Medicare is over. Medicaid is over. Defense will probably have to be slashed from 25-50%. The era of bloated federal government is over.
The only question left is how painful is this going to be?

And they are very good at it. President Mugabe of Zimbabwe and Il of North Korea would probably win reelection handily in a fair vote today despite the catastrophes those countries represent.
it a WAR
Never underestimate your enemy, and Obama is the enemy of freedom, free markets, free speech and free will. Obama is a Saul Alinsky disciple.
Obama and his gang of thieves can only do what we let them do. They work for us and they are not doing the job so it’s time to fire the lot of them. In the meantime it might be best to “Be Prepared.” for every attack. Might also be time to clan up for safety and preservation. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, Yesterday is history be ready today and tomorrow will be a mystery. I live in the mountains and can tell you folks up here are ready.
It wouldn’t be so difficult if there was the slightest job security but O is destroying one industry after the other.
Hospitality, manufacturing, finance, airlines, vacation destinations. Just about every business is being harmed. What good will it do to eliminate the mortgage deduction. How will that help the housing market? What does it do if none of us have any discretionary income. To save for the future, let alone spend to help the economy.
We are watching the destruction of all our traditions, and our jobs too.
He’s going to save Medicare by reducing payments to doctors. How will this enhance care. Who will want to be a doctor now.
