Ammo flying off store shelves

TAMPA - After President Barack Obama won the election, people flooded gun stores because of speculation that he may limit gun ownership or raise taxes on them. Even though neither has happened, the amount of people wanting to get their hands on a gun hasn't gone down. Scott Patrick is the General Manager of the Shoot Straight gun range in Tampa. He says the number of people coming into his store is still going up. "For whatever reason, whether it's the economy or crime, people don't feel safe," he said. Patrick is having serious trouble keeping all kinds of fire arms in stock, even holsters are often backordered. However, he says ammunition is what is really flying off store shelves. Ammo that sells for personal protection is as good as gold these days, and it's costing 30 to 40 percent more than it used to.

If it wasn’t for minorities, college students, guilt ridden libs and infatuated women; somebody like B0 could never get near the white house.

Our political process has been a joke for decades.

What really cranks my wagger is if I'd taken the $800 each month that goes into my 403B and bought a couple of rifles or handguns each month (or month and a half), by now I'd have doubled my money or more.

Tripled or quadrupled

I’m thinking seriously of picking up a couple more guns for home defense. I don’t live in the best neighborhood and should the flag really go up, I want to be able to protect myself and my family.

Do you have any recommendations?

A) 12 Gauge Home Defense Pump Shotgun. Mossburg is good. I have a Winchester. "Home Defense" Shotguns have a Short barrel so you can use it in a hallway. No chokes required. ([: ^ )

B) A good .40 cal Semi-Automatic Pistol. I like my Glock 27 but for a first firearm, I would go with a Revolver.

You might also want to think about a Concealed Handgun License if it is possible where you live. If not, you may want to move from the "not the best neighborhood" into a neighborhood where you can legally exercise your 2nd amendment rights.

Cligula comes to mind...or maybe Nero.

Maybe the crack and pot have something to do with it...or is it the sex perversion?

Certainly the family story is, at best, lacking.

There is definitely a disturbed subconscious involved.

Even so, I would not blame the course of the global financial network on an individual. This has been in the works for years.

Perhaps this character has been groomed for years to read the script. The comparisons with Lincoln are telltale.

Why did BO go to Illinois from Harvard? Mentored by Saul Alinsky who coined the phrase ‘community organizer’ in his book ‘Rules for Radicals’.

A tall skinny president from Illinois presides over the darkest chapter in a nation’s history.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst..perhaps the next Greek tragedy in Western Civilization.

Not only do we need more ammo, we need grenade launchers and heavy artillery. Thing is, I’m not joking.

Stage 1, depending on threat level is dispersion with Tear Gas grenades, then it’s high capacity semi-auto tools for suppression of fire, and lastly violence of action.

Stage 2 if armed rioting/conflict continues then it involves obtaining new tools like that AC/DC song.

Keep the limited gun/ammo scenario for home defense.

I’m talking about protecting communities.

My area (a historical blood zone, from Dillinger’s escape in Crown Point to his haunts in the East Chicago Harbor, Al Capone’s lairs in Lansing and Cal City, to the Chicago Outfit’s treachory from Chinatown to Chicago Heights and live burial of crew members [as depicted in flick Casino] just down Rt. 41.)

is sandwiched in between Zero’s abode in Hyde Park near the notorious South Side and the third world scary-Gary a few miles of suburbia and Americana I like to call home.

to let it slowly burn for a few days before National Guard arrives like the L.A. Riots I do NOT accept.

I accept none of it.

Worst case scenarios have to be prepared for...like organized disruption of traffic on highways, main thoroughfares, a grand mob of activists, demonstrators, anarchists, criminals, racists, illegals, invading suburbia this time.. armed with guns, fire, etc.

People do things for 2 reasons. To pursue pleasure...
and to avoid pain. Quite simple really.

The lesson will be short.

Funny you should mention that, I was watching the History channel tonight and they had a show on the Latin Kings from Chicago.

Made me want to buy even more guns and ammo!

Very interesting take from HQ so to speak.

Have to admit that, if in your situation, a little hoarding wouldn’t hurt!

What if? Just what if this depression gets so severe, regular people are forced to liquidate personal property including guns and ammo just to pay bills?

Could this selling provide a great buying opportunity for those patient enough to WAIT?

Yes! And those of us who have a lot of firearms already will be out their adding to our collections. Trust me on this: The correct number of firearms to own is always equal to (N + 1) where N = the currently owned number.

This is chicken little panic buying just like Y2K.

A marxist in the white house along with leftist control in the house and senate is considerably more dangerous than a bunch of computers failing.

Nonsense—people will sell stocks, cash out Bank CDs, jewelry, furniture, IPods and tons of other stuff before they are going to sell Ammo/Guns in the current economic environment. The Y2k thing turned out to be a DUD. This economic crises is REAL and getting worse.

“For whatever reason, whether it’s the economy or crime, or a blatant Communist in the White House, people don’t feel safe,” he said. There. Now everyone can understand it! ;)

So the ‘have-nots’ are going to mount a Bolshevist revolution against the ‘haves’.

WTH do you think that the democrats have been doing for the last 80+ years? The whole concept of "sharing the wealth" is nothing but government-supported theft of the "haves" by the "have nots". Or more accurately, theft from the productive by the non-productive.

And if you think that the libs are a bunch of unarmed wussies, think again - their ranks include a large number of militant, angry thugs bent on "getting even" with whitey, or "the man" (whoever that is). And they are armed - the conservatives don't have a monopoly over the second amendment.

And don't forget that despite his drastic unpopularity with the military, the military still serves the President. While many might walk, he could still muster up a significant force of very well-equipped soldiers with the purpose of crushing any dissenters within the nation.

Tough odds in reality - if TSHTF, there will be a decidedly long, tough battle. It'll take more than a couple of boxes of ammo to sort things out.

The trick is to use the ammo to acquire bigger toys...

Oil/Coal/base metal demand is going to continue to PLUMMET as GDPs SHRINK drastically across the globe. Agree with agriculture. Food/Ammo/Silver/Gold/Basic Supplies in that order are the best investment to last you at least 2-3 years. Past that, I don’t see anything as a good investment (btw—I expect no return on the above listed ‘investments)

I don’t either (atm). I plan on buying a pistol & rifle this week though. Probably will store it at my parents along with several boxes of ammo. BTW—How have you been?? Been frequenting tickerforum.org a lot more than FR the last year+.

Not to mention the fact that in a time of uncertainty, ammo might be worth more than the dollar which is currently being printed out like candy.

Back in the Old West bullets were used to by drinks...'a shot of whiskey'
