WH lashes out at CNBC's Santelli

The White House is lashing out publicly and personally at a CNBC reporter whose attack on President Barack Obama’s anti-foreclosure plan caught fire on the Internet on Thursday.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs jumped at the chance to go after the CNBC journalist, Rick Santelli, when a question about his bracing critique was asked at Friday’s news briefing.

“I’ve watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. I’m not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives or in what house he lives but the American people are struggling every day to meet their mortgages, stay in their jobs, pay their bills, send their kids to school,” Gibbs said. “I think we left a few months ago the adage that if it was good for a derivatives trader that it was good for Main Street. I think the verdict is in on that,” the press secretary said, poking directly at the cable journalist, who reports from the trading floor at the Chicago Board of Trade.

Gibbs insisted Santelli was misinformed when he said Obama’s program would amount to a transfer of money from prudent taxpayers to those who had taken reckless risks.

I think (hope) this is opening enough eyes that even if they try to shut up Santelli, more people are going to feel inclined and driven to speak out. Obama is hoping we are all sheep in the pasture, but he’s learning very quickly that it’s going beyond buyer’s remorse. I still feel confident there are enough of us, enough patriots that love America and we’ll only be stepped on and beat up for so long.

I really think we are at the feet of revolution and thankfully, the people who are the most fed up are the ones with all the weaponry.

Mr. Santelli woke the sleeping giant yesterday. I don’t think he even knew his truthful rant would get the attention it did.

There seems to be a bit of fear around here. As if obama is the new Stalin or something, and nobody had better annoy him if they know what's good for them. When Alinsky's ghost is brought up in a thread, then I know that it will stop right there, in awe and reverence to the great rabble rouser. Alinsky is so last year, and besides, why not use his method to our advantage? That would really freak 'em out, eh?

The arrogance is over the top (if you haven't, watch the entire clip). Especially at the end, he is condescending toward Rick Santelli. I can't recall any other administration that directly goes after critics in the media....With them talking about it, gives more air time to the issue.
