Call to action: Regional FReeper Conventions: California
Feb 15, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 02/15/2009 2:52:31 PM PST by Jim Robinson

A few weeks ago, I posted a thread asking how many of you would be interested in holding a centralized FReeper meeting somewhere in the middle of the country, possibly on an airline hub so a maximum number of FReepers could attend. Lots of people sounded interested, but only if it were held closer to home and preferably within driving distance.

Ok, if one big central meeting is not feasible, I posted another thread asking about regional meetings. Sounds like a lot more people are interested in this, but everyone's asking when one will be scheduled in their area. Well, folks, please do not wait on me to schedule your FReepmeet.

I would like to explore ideas for taking our country back from the Marxists. I would like to see us rebuild our chapters and networking systems, only stronger than ever. I think we need to form groups or chapters in every congressional district in the country. In fact, right down to the county and city level. We need to form groups of people who can work together to recruit and penetrate the local political organizations at the district and state levels and right on through to national politics.

We need strength in numbers, ideas, candidates, funding and get out the vote efforts. We'll need homegrown networking in case Obama reinstates the fairness doctrine and neuters talk radio and possibly even the Internet.

I think we need to organize in every city, town or community where we can put together a group of ten or more FReepers. The local groups can work with district or regional groups and tie into state groups. We need to penetrate into Republican politics at every level. We need to ensure that the very best CONSERVATIVE candidates are nurtured, recruited, supported and elected at the city, county, state and federal levels.

We need to get to know each other personally. Local networking is the key. Meet and know your local FReeper allies. Exchange phone numbers and email addresses. Build websites and mailing lists. Penetrate into other conservative or political groups. Educate and recruit. We take it back one assembly district, one city, one county, one state at a time. No, belay that. We do it simultaneously in each and every assembly district, city, county, congressional district and state in the entire country!

There is nothing stopping us from getting started today!

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Ok, getting started. I've reviewed where our hits are coming from and not surprisingly the largest numbers come from California, Texas, Florida and New York. I think for sure we should have regional conventions in these areas, and in just about any populous area where we can get a hundred or more FReepers to meet. There's no reason we shouldn't have meetings in Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Seattle, Atlanta, New Orleans, Las Vegas, etc, just to name a few cities that were suggested on prior threads. Also, we can't forget Alaska and Hawaii! Also, in any local community where we can get ten to twenty-five FReepers to attend.

Any group in any state, region, city or community can organize and schedule a meeting. No need to wait on anyone to get started. In fact some states or regions may need more than one. For example, I can easily see regional conventions being necessary in Northern and Southern California and two or more in Texas and Florida.

I think we can submit and debate ideas on how best to accomplish our goals, how to organize, whether or not we should form a PAC or a 527, how to advance our best ideas and people, etc., whether or not a national convention would be helpful, even selecting delegates for a national convention, but for sure just to start building a network of conservatives on the ground.

With this in mind, would like to start entertaining serious proposals for possible locations and dates for Northern and Southern California. Also will need volunteers to help organize and coordinate our activities.

And hopefully, other states and regions will follow suit.

By the way, I'd like to attend as many of these events as I possibly can, so hopefully, they will not all be scheduled on the same weekend. Hoping we form many chapters and hold dozens of meetings and as many FReepers as possible attend one or more!

Who's up for attending convention in Atlanta? At the risk of running off a bunch of my fellow SC FReepers, count me in :)

Sure; I'm already here!

You guys have any ideas? I think we could include Southern Illinoisians in this as well if we set something up in St. Louis.

If I don’t have a firm work commitment that I can’t get out of, I’ll be there.

The upstate is a pretty long-haul for those of us near the coast. Columbia would be a better choice for a state-wide meeting.

If you do setup and announce a meeting in the upstate, upchuck and I can add a link to your announcement thread to our SC Pings.

So Cal FReeper right here — smack dab in the middle, where LA, OC, and San Bernardino counties meet. Count me in.

I could make it to a meeting in Greenville or Spartanburg but unfortunately don’t have the time, money, or vehicle to go out of town.

I’m in Georgia. If we can’t pull something together here, I’m willing to head for a nearby state...naturally weekends are best, but...I’m open to opportunities.

RE: “Orange County might be perfect for all of SoCal as a central meeting place”

*********

I’m in L.A. but you could be correct — O.C. would draw from Riverside/San Bernardino Counties, plus much of L.A. Even a few Ventura County folks might be persuaded to make that drive to O.C.

And San Diego too.

If the timing is such that we can make a meeting, great!

Hey Jim, there's always coordinating! It's probably easier for us to plan around your schedule. Since we don't know if you're going to be on the east coast on April 3 or July 10 it's hard for us to plan. Give us a time frame and I think we can make it happen.

Sorry, but at this early point I have no idea when we may be there. Lots of things to firm up.

Keep your powder dry.

What about using Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concert weekends? The San Diego FC is August 7 this year. I bet a lot of us are planning to be there anyway. Sean is doing 10 concerts this year in some of the cities people are talking about already like Atlanta, Houston, New York, and Vegas. The idea of a PAC is essential, I think. We’ve got to do something to combat ACORN and the Obama machine internet fundraising, which they have never stopped, incidentally. How exactly does that work, that he is still/already fundraising for 2012?

Keep your powder dry

Powder's dry!

Not a problem on the schedule. Let's work with it as it develops. Keep in touch with one of the SC FReepers. SC Swamp Fox and upchuck are the SC ping list keepers. If you are driving, there should be enough FReepers to put you up a few days on the FReeper railroad. :-)

Ladies & Gentlemen of Westchester and Da Bronx, and any other interested parties, Jim Rob has called for us to unite into non-cyber chapters putting faces with names, an idea long overdue. We need to sub-divide and organize into local units where we can organize, and grow, gather strength and support, invite our like minded representatives, and/or put forth our own candidates, agendas, and ideas.

Free Republic is our home base, but the time has come to put our might where our mouth is, and fight back. Lord knows the GOP isn't capable of it. We now live in a country where we are not in control of our destiny. Our politicians/representatives are not in control of our destiny, and this is blatantly obvious by the disgusting passage of the Porkulus Bill. No one on either side of the aisle even read the damned thing, they couldn't.

So who sold and passed it? THE MEDIA, just like they sold and passed this phony “President” off as viable.

This is our right and obligation. This is our battle, and this is our time - before it's too late. The time for grumbling posts is over, it's time to get off our sorry, fat, lazy, complacent butts, and get into action.

If we really want to put OUR country back on a more healthy course then we will all do this, and do it now.

Freep-mail me, or post to me, and given enough sincere interest, we will set a date - time - place mutually agreeable to get together and have a meeting. THIS is our revolution, and as always, our strength is in our numbers. We are truly blessed enough to have this mechanism at our disposal so let's use it before it's too late.

Not convinced? We have all seen the banks, car companies, retail chains, real estate, houses, manufacturing, textile, tech, and even food industry take a beating in this economy. But the damned nightly news continues to spew its venom and hate into the general population, brainwashing otherwise sensible people with their crap. The NY Times is in financial trouble and it's time to hold ABC - CBS - NBC - CNN... accountable too. A very different and tough battle, but it is what we got.

C’mon gang: Let's ROLL!
