Starve The Beast (A FR Actvism Thread to Combat the Rape of the American Taxpayer)
my derranged cerebrum | Feb. 15th 2009 | Mad Dawgg

Posted on 02/15/2009 11:52:47 AM PST by Mad Dawgg

This Thread is to bring together Freepers to institute a legal way to Starve the US government of our Tax Dollars. Please add any and all suggestions to this thread for legal ways to STARVE THE BEAST!

Spread the Word to your Non-Freeper Friends. Show people how to keep more of their hard earned money and get more back from Uncle Obama.

OK so here goes:

So you feel like its all hopeless. You feel the inmates are in charge of the asylum.

Yeah its bad BUT there is something we can all do. AND it benefits yourself WHILE putting it to the looters in Washington.

First understand that the engine that drives Liberalism/ Socialism is taxpayer money. Without it they can't do all the crap they wish to.

So the first thing to do is strangle the dollars going to Washington on a weekly basis.

How you ask? Its simple really. Contact your employer and change your withholding on your W-2 Forms. Claim more dependents. This takes less out of your paycheck to send to Washington. (I suggest you claim one or two more than you actually have.)

Take that extra money per pay period and put it in a local bank in a Savings or Money Market account.

If at Tax Time you then owe some back you have it in your savings and you have made money on it rather than giving Uncle Sam a tax free loan on your money.

The next thing you can do is turn a hobby or interest into a legal side business and use it for more tax deductions. (Contact your accountant on the particulars on how to legally do such)

One of the benefits of turning a hobby into a side business is you can take a holiday vacation and legally turn most of it into a tax deduction.

OK Freepers add any and all suggestions you can think of and spread the word!

And Change those W-2s and STARVE THE BEAST!

Give as much as you can to your church. It gives you a tax deduction and pisses off the atheists who are running our government now.

Don’t buy smokes. They are depending on this tax to cover the new health program.

I'm boosting my 401K withholding to have the max taken out at the end of the year - we'll just live on less for a couple of years until the GOP makes its comeback.

Considered increasing my deductions, but there will be penalties if you've had less withheld than you "should", even if you pay the whole bill in April.
I guess they use some percent difference between what you owe and what was withheld.

I'll be watching this thread for other ideas, for sure.

Your idea, while it sounds O.K. is illegal, the Gov has already taken care of that ploy, and has made it illegal to overclaim dependents. Check with your tax preparer.

Work1099. Only a out 20% of people file w9s on you. The rest is tax free!!! Wait until after april15th. File an extension. Then call IRS to find out who reported. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. Only about 20% of flkz report 1099 employees. You can match those returns and save thousands.

If you can still afford a vacation, be sure to go to a Red state. South Carolina has many wonderful vacation spots. So does Texas. Do NOT go to New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas, or San Francisco under ANY circumstances.

New York just “assumes” we bought online - to the tune of $65 sales/use tax based upon our income... I wonder if I could prove that I didn’t have a computer to buy online? (This was actually the explanation I got when I called about this “assessment” of my refund.)

Doesn’t work in Michigan. They want the “invisible” tax, too.

Ahhh OK, then take as many as you have and no more. I am told by my account many folks take less than they are allowed so they get money back at tax time.

That’s not going to last long. Sales tax is already the buzz on Ebay.

Go to Craigslist. Barter.
Stock up on anything that you might need within the month, then resolve to buy as little as possible that is taxed. You need the gasoline and electricity, do you need new shoes? Or a latte in the morning?

Drop your landline if you have a cellphone. Tons of taxes paid on that. Go Skype for a landline. I think it’s still tax free.

Many of us retirees can just cut back on spending and reduce tax producing withrawals from our depleted 401k’s.
You young’ens can increase your tax deferred contributions to 401k’s and ira’s.(good strategy even now).
Some retirees start working in the black economy..or barter economy. 50% of the illegals work black economy..why shouldn’t we?
Keep your old car. Why pay a big sales tax and big registration in states like CA.
Buy all kinds of used stuff to avoid new sales tax.
Some have to do these things to survive..others can help starve the beast(especially CA).

You have to remember that the tax code as it is today, has very little to do with money and revenue and everything with giving government the ability to reward and punish behavior. There are many things that the government could do to reduce their control over the public AND increase revenues but the career political class, Democrats and Republicans alike, will never make that sacrifice. The reason they went to Washington was for power, not problem solving.

If you live in a Democrat-run city or county and have a mortgage, ask your lender to stop escrowing your property taxes, and then put the money in a CD and delay paying the tax as long as you can. A local real estate agent tipped me to this one. She said our township is terrible at collecting unpaid property taxes and often takes over a year to do it.
