If you live in a Democrat-run city or county and have a mortgage, ask your lender to stop escrowing your property taxes, and then put the money in a CD and delay paying the tax as long as you can. A local real estate agent tipped me to this one. She said our township is terrible at collecting unpaid property taxes and often takes over a year to do it.

Watch yourself on property tax tricks. Frequently the municipality will put a lein on your property without notification. They can, and do hold sheriffs sales to recoup property tax liens.

In fact, watch yourself on all tax tricks. There isn't much that has not been tried. Most tax delay/avoidance schemes are well known to taxing authorities and some can have costly consequences.

Disclaimer: I make no claim to be an authority, just a guy who worked many years at a state government tax authority.
