Give as much as you can to your church. It gives you a tax deduction and pisses off the atheists who are running our government now.

Don’t buy smokes. They are depending on this tax to cover the new health program.

I'm boosting my 401K withholding to have the max taken out at the end of the year - we'll just live on less for a couple of years until the GOP makes its comeback.

Considered increasing my deductions, but there will be penalties if you've had less withheld than you "should", even if you pay the whole bill in April.
I guess they use some percent difference between what you owe and what was withheld.

I'll be watching this thread for other ideas, for sure.

Work1099. Only a out 20% of people file w9s on you. The rest is tax free!!! Wait until after april15th. File an extension. Then call IRS to find out who reported. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. Only about 20% of flkz report 1099 employees. You can match those returns and save thousands.

If you can still afford a vacation, be sure to go to a Red state. South Carolina has many wonderful vacation spots. So does Texas. Do NOT go to New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas, or San Francisco under ANY circumstances.

You have to remember that the tax code as it is today, has very little to do with money and revenue and everything with giving government the ability to reward and punish behavior. There are many things that the government could do to reduce their control over the public AND increase revenues but the career political class, Democrats and Republicans alike, will never make that sacrifice. The reason they went to Washington was for power, not problem solving.

If you live in a Democrat-run city or county and have a mortgage, ask your lender to stop escrowing your property taxes, and then put the money in a CD and delay paying the tax as long as you can. A local real estate agent tipped me to this one. She said our township is terrible at collecting unpaid property taxes and often takes over a year to do it.

Above all, don’t buy government debt. If you own any debt already, sell it. This will hinder the government’s future ability to fund their spending with borrowing.

Starve the US government of our Tax Dollars

The government already is starved of revenue - we are currently running a $1.2T deficit for this year. And we are about to spend $800B that we don't have. So why do you think reducing tax revenue will make politicians act differently than they do now?????

Use pay as you go credit cards that get sold in convenience stores. Buy them with cash and they can’t be tracked. On line merchants will ship to any name at your address.

Muck up the system. Make minor errors in your tax return and tie the IRS up with their own bureaucracy.

First, it is the W4 that you use to list your deductions, not your W2.

Secondly, since we have relatives who live in Delaware (no sales tax), we just buy all of our big ticket items when we go to visit them.

I share your sentiment but people should be prepared for an audit and make sure you have receipts for everything. My ex-wife worked at home and claimed a home office. This triggered an audit of her returns and eventually an audit of my business. The revenue agent found/created a bunch of nit-picky questions on deductions which resulted in tax due for about $1000 for 3 or 4 years for each of us. After interest and penalties we ended up with a 16K bill.

Something to consider...
