They thought they were buying a piece of history but many customers now say they were ripped off.

I wouldn’t mind profiteering off Obama. I had a chance with that Spider-Man comic, but I didn’t know it was going to take off and wouldn’t have dreamed of buying something with his face on it. $3.99, and now it’s going for around $150 online.
Sadly, I just read the news that it was the best-selling Spider-Man comic in 15 years and is up to a rare fifth printing. I hope it’s just a bunch of speculators, or I’ll have to fear for my country (like we don’t have to already).

I’d sure love to hear a lawyer’s opinion on this story. Any chance that Obama had to approve of this or license his name and image to the people who pulled off this caper? This is the funniest thing Ive seen in years.

That is so funny!!!
I don’t mean to laugh at their disappointment... well; yes I do. But they are so upset because Washington, Lincoln, Kennedy and the like weren’t removed from these coins to honor “The One”. How could anyone buy the idea that the Washington mint actually made these “Obama” coins that quickly?
Suckers buy the Obama myth wholeheartedly and eat up everything that goes with it. To me, it was a fitting tribute to the invented Obama image... if I was on the jury, it would be hard for me to convict.
