This may be a topic for our regional FReeper conventions coming up, but how many of you would be interested in forming an official conservative FReeper PAC for raising funds to help replace Dems and RINOs and to get conservatives elected?
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Announcements; Free Republic; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: elections; freepaction; freeperconvention; freeperpac

While it just took 6 weeks to complete the 1st Qtr. Freepathon, I am still optimistic about such an enterprise. I would love to attend my regional conference if it is within 400 miles of my home and isn’t in the middle of the work week.

I would be interested, but I can’t contribute funds at the present time.
I can contribute time in the evenings making phone calls, holding speaker events, and even doing public speaking.

I’d like to see more effort put into educating the layman, winning hearts and minds of the electorate, rather than trying to fight in the halls of power. With the votes and The People, we can win.

Heritage arose because Joe Coors found when he came here, to his surprise, that American Enterprise Institute was not doing the job that he thought.
That is definitely like the situation today. New PACS and think tanks are needed, starting with the increase in the clout of FR so it will not be so easily marginalized by the urinalists and branching out into some new directions.
If those that exist had done the job we would not be in this fix; that should be obvious.

Are you familiar with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute? They conducted a civics survey not too long ago:
American Civic Literacy
Feel free to shudder upon reading the overall results.

We talked about this 11 years ago, and everyone loved to talk about it, but few saw any fun in autographing little slips of NCR paper.
Its the same as the funding for FR; if everyone that is registered were to give $5 a month we’d be a force, but...

I understand that the problem with those that exist are not doing the job. And the main reason is that they are small organizations and are try going it alone.
I’m just saying why reinvent the wheel if a group like Move America Forward would agree to take the lead. They have been putting out conservative commercials and attending FR events some time now. Most recently just this past Monday Melanie Morgan joined JimRob at the Senate Hart Building to talk to several senators. MAF currently seems to have the money and backing.
It took FR till today to end this quarter’s mega long FReepaThon. And FReepers don’t come out to FReeps in big numbers any more. We are very good in phone calls, faxes and emails but face to face contact is seriously needed.
But if no organization wants to take the lead, than lets start FR PAC.

...have letter to the editor campaigns." Been there, done that. - The problem is most papers are happy to print a poorly written letter, but one that conveys our ideas well won't get printed.
