U.S. Senate Republicans are not planning to try and use procedural maneuvers to delay passage of a proposed $789 billion economic stimulus bill, the party's leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, said on Wednesday.
McConnell said there was a widespread feeling in the minority party that they "ought to vote and move on." He spoke after congressional negotiators said they had reached a deal on the massive package of spending and tax cuts to try and rescue the flailing economy.

Article this morning the Financial Times that China basically is saying “We hate you guys, you’re insolvent, but there is nothing else we can do to invest the trade imbalance in, so we’ll continue to fund you guys.”
My guess is that you dont.
OK enough debating the fools and liars. You can have the last word.
Today I called the offices of my senators and congresswoman (all Democrats) and expressed my concern regarding the stimulus bill. I said I was especially concerned about the health provision/health rules aspect in the stimulus bill and asked that they consider voting no on the stimulus plan in its current form. (I also said there were a number of other concerns about the package, but the health provision was especially concerning.) All took name and addy info, and indicated they would relay my message to the senators and congresswoman, respectively.
The woman I spoke with in one senator’s office said that the govt. would not be involved in medical care decisions— the senate bill prohibits that. I said that from what I could tell, it opened the door, and I would rather not have it in there. I’ll probably get a letter from that senator going on and on about the safeguards, yadda, yadda, in that calm tone of ‘nothing to see here’ this should allay all your concerns because I’m doing what’s best for the citizens.
For good measure, I also decided to call Arlen Specter’s office. Got through on the second time, but had to hold about 5 minutes. When the person came back on I said that I had a question about the stimulus package. I said I had heard Senator Specter being interviewed where he seemed a little surprised about the health provision nested in the bill— that that was understandable since it seemed as though most didn’t know about it being in there given the bill trying to be rushed through. I continued, “Senator Specter said that he would get this provision clarified, that he made a commitment, and that he wasn’t going to go back on his word and on a commitment. Now that the bill has been revised and is to be voted on again, how has the health provision been clarified?”
She didn’t answer the question. She just said she would relay my comments to the senator. I said to please tell him that if the provision has not been clarified, then to vote no on the stimulus package in order to keep his commitment. She said she would relay my comments. Did not ask for my name or addy, maybe she saw my area code and knew I wasn’t from PA...

Congress critter ping!
We need an all out civil war in the Republican Party. Right now, there is no reason to vote Republican. The leadership has made the party unrecognizable. It is a shell. Michael Steele has been a disappointment. The ‘leaders’ in the house and senate have no idea how to sway public opinion. They don’t act, they react. We have two years to get it together. It has to start now.
Senator McConnell:
Your comments to the effect that Republican Senators will not try to block the Stimulus Bill were a shock to me.
I do not reside in your state, but your actions impact my family and my children and grand-children’s future.
You, by expressing your intentions, have confirmed for me that you are part of the problem. It is shocking how vacant our Republican Senators have become.
I cannot express my opinion clearly enough without expletives, so I will truncate my comments against my will, in the interest of civility.
I have never been more disgusted with our Republicans in the Senate.
This bill is perhaps the worst bill in U.S. History, and you have the gaul to admit you’ll allow it to pass.
My God the level of ignorance that displays...

I believe it’s selling bonds to China. That is if China wants them.
*disgust* Grrrr...Time to stick to the B@$t@rd$...You only have 48 Hours for "Comments" to the (Federal) House Of Representatives Whores...
and a Kentucky Ping.
Move on?? Move on to where, Mitch?? The economic dung heap?? You idiot!
Thank you very much, green pastures!!
“Of course, what would those do but delay it for a few days?”
Even that would be a good thing though.
This is the bum’s rush - show this stinker to the light of day for as long as possible.
The day this bill passes is a day of infamy for America.
On the night the Senate voted Clinton not guilty, I got on a plane from Detroit to Louisville and he was on it. He looked exhausted. Almost everybody boarding the plan shook his hand has they passed first class. I'd bet that wouldn't happen now.
“It would make the impression that the GOP was serious in its objection. The way it is, a not insignificant number of people perceive a shortage of objection, and equate it to a shortage of spine. I’m not saying that’s the right connection to make, but it’s a connection that flows fairly naturally.”
Right. Fight to the bitter end. Chewing up another week of time robs Obama of meeting his goal.
The Democrats need to be pay a price for every single thing they do. They are going in the wrong direction and the more sand in the gears the better.
Steele has some serious work to do. I hope you called and told him.
No, Jim, Thank YOU!
Oh, I almost forgot this part— when speaking with the woman who told me that the govt. wouldn’t be involved in medical care decisions, that the senate bill prohibits that, I had referenced the National Coordinator of Health Info Technology during my comments. She started in almost right away that that was a position that was created under the Bush administration...
...
Thanks for going to DC for us on this one.
Call the Louisville office and ask for Larry Cox. He’s Mitch’s right hand man. Any message that gets to him gets to Mitch.
Thanks, For the info....KENTUCKY PING.
