White House Power Consolidation Continues with 2010 Census Takeover; Will Press Care?
Newsbusters ^ | february 5th | Tom Blumer

The power grab continues. My bet is that Old Media will also maintain its studied ignorance of this development, despite years of whining about alleged Executive Branch excesses during the Bush administration.

Now it looks like Barack Obama's inner circle is going to teach the Census Bureau how to count in 2010. CQpolitics.com this morning reported that the White House is taking the next decennial census away from the Commerce Department, and keeping it for itself.

“The press reaction will be interesting indeed”

It really won’t be interesting. It will be obvious. We are not dealing with honest people here. When are we going to stop being surprised by the war-like mentality we are up against? This is not fair politics as usual. We are in a war.

No no, you misunderstand. I totally get that the media is at war with us. They’ve been at war with us since General Cronkite. Even before that.

Yes, the media reaction will be typical and obvious. It will also be interesting.

I kind of figured that was sarcasm on his part. I just didn’t want to assume either way.

The press won’t care.

Most of the jobs will probably go to ACORN members.
Watch for the black population to quadruple in this census. It’s all about manipulation of the system.

There’s a lot of money tied to the census, because that’s how government money at many levels is allotted. The last time around, black “leaders” asserted that blacks were undercounted and finally, IIRC, the Census Bureau adjusted their numbers upwards slightly, although not as much as they wanted. This time they’ll get the numbers they want with no problem.

Barry is going to become increasingly unpopular. Then, like any dictator, he will have to build himself a fantasy majority since he can’t get a real one.

Democrat control of the census numbers is going to have disasterous implications for republicans and conservatives. The democrats will be redistricting and micromanaging elections all the way down to the township level.

Think what they’ll be able to accomplish.

I know you get it.

It’s just something that I’ve become acutely aware of - the constant references to “amazing”/”i can’t believe it”/etc

There is a subconscious acceptance of the premise (that they are honest reporters/journalists doing their job of bringing truth to the people). It looks like news, it sounds like news, it’s presented as if professional. It’s very hard to not accept the premise.

Every so often, when the heat gets too high, they will fake a bit of objectivity, so they can point to it. Even real true conservatives are taken in by it. There is a fake world drawn around us, and we are truly on the precipice.

So yeah, anyway that’s my point.

Let's not forget that wonderful Democrat “create the vote” organization, ACORN. This organization illegally swung several local, state, and Congressional elections in the Dem's favor by illegally signing up ineligible people many times over. They even created nonexistent names and registered those. In some precincts they registered more names than there were listed on voting roles. By the way, the stimulus package has over $1B allocated for ACORN purposes in it. I have not heard any Republican as yet state that it has been pulled...

This is all about controlling (a) where the money goes and (b) the apportionment of Congressional districts. I’ll bet ACORN will be handling most of the census work itself.

Yep. This isn’t about grabbing what they can when they can. This is a controlled permanent power seizure.

Cripple,
Couldn't agree more. Don't believe the average person knows how important these census numbers are to just about any thing that goes on in government. Elections are just the beginning. Massive amounts of federal dollars are systematically doled out based on these numbers for construction, education, health care, welfare, you name it. Moving the nonpartisan Census directors reporting requirement from Commerce directly to the White House is a very ominous sign that is designed to give rat hegemony over all levels of government for the foreseeable future. Any one who thinks these numbers don't matter is dead wrong.

Every dollar comes with a puppet string attached. Look at seat belt and drunk driving laws. The feds have long put pressure on states to adopt standards by giving more or less money back to states that do or don't toe the line.

The concentration on homeless and illegals tells me that ACORN will be ready to create the numbers they need to change for republican districts to democrat districts.

It’s not about the media caring, it’s about who is counting the people

Much like who was counting the votes when O stole the presidency.

I don’t catch what you mean.

Can you spell A-C-O-R-N.

This is the most frightening thing to come out of this administration so far.

Expect ACORN to do the polling and blue states are going to have an increase of population that is astronomical.

I will wager right now that their electoral numbers will increase by at least 20 votes. Count on Ohio and Florida as losing electoral votes. They have cost the Dems too many elections.

Gregg needs to tell Obama he will not take the position if the census is taken out of the dept control.

I wonder what would happen if citizens refused in large numbers to take part in the census....

Very, very true. This needs to sink in to people. I hope it sinks in soon.
