Star Trek Actor Who Paid for Three Abortions Now Condemns "Right to Choose...to Kill Her Baby"

LOS ANGELES, February 2, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Actor Gary Graham knew that by writing about his personal experience and rejection of abortion, he would be incurring the ire of not a few among the Hollywood elite.

Yet a blog column posted last Tuesday by the seasoned actor, known most recently for his roles as Ambassador Soval in the TV series "Star Trek: Enterprise" and Capt. Ingles on "J.A.G.", took an unflinching look at truths almost entirely ignored by those in the Hollywood establishment.

"I’m going to say what millions know in the front of their brains, and many, many more millions know in the depths of their hearts … but won’t allow themselves to think it, much less feel it," wrote Graham.  "And believe me, I know I’ll be hated for saying it, I’ll be hated by people who don’t know me, have never worked with me, have never golfed with me, had a drink with me.

"I’m going to say it anyway: Abortion is murder."

Graham described the irresponsibility of his youth that made abortion the convenient option for a drug-fueled, “free-love” lifestyle. He confessed to having paid for multiple abortions for girlfriends, observing that abortion “sure took the pressure off of me, a guy, interested in sex who had been raised in the era of, ‘Hey, you get a girl pregnant, you marry her!’” But then, he says, a "spiritual awakening" brought him to a "tearful epiphany of what it meant for a man to be with a woman, what sex was really designed for by our Creator and … what abortion is.

"I truly wish that I had had this conviction way back when…when I was only concerned about my selfish convenience of the day," wrote Graham.  "But I didn’t want to know, I didn’t want to think about it. It was inconvenient to think about it."

He noted that the widespread acceptance of abortion "says volumes of how our entire culture has been coarsened," and "How life itself has been cheapened.”

"We are told to have sex any time we feel the urge.  Condoms are handed out in grade schools. Promiscuity is not only condoned, it’s tacitly encouraged ... But if you should get pregnant and it’s just not a ‘convenient’ time for you, don’t worry, there are Family Planning Services. ... That inconvenient fetus can be surgically ripped from its uterine moorings, ground up and tossed into the trash like so much garbage.

"Problem solved, and the mother can resume her egocentric lifestyle.  But the scars on that woman’s soul will never quite heal. I’m a man, but I’ve got them on mine."

Responding to those who call for abortion to be "legal but rare," Graham asked, "Why rare?

"What’s wrong with abortion, that you think it should be a rare occurrence? I’ve had moles removed from my skin. Doctors don’t tell us that a mole removal should be rare. So what’s with this ‘rare’ business? Or is it a tacit agreement that abortion … is plain wrong?

"Try this exercise: Every time you hear someone use the phrase '…a woman’s right to choose…' mentally complete the phrase with the following words – '…to kill her baby.'  That’s what the argument’s about.  A woman’s right to kill her baby."

The world has changed. Our population is full of foreigners, and sissies.

Do you really think we have enough Americans with, even, one ball, who will stand against the wave of Socialism we are facing now or in the future?

When the absolute best we can do is McCain, and we place our future hopes on a candidate who was sliced and diced, or a candidate who has said he doesn’t want to be POTUS, do you, honestly, think we have a chance of putting the genie back in the bottle?

I mean, let’s be honest here. If you put 41, 42 and 43 in a bag and shook ‘em up, would you be able to tell the difference in any of them? I doubt it. And that’s representative of what we have to work with.

The GOP is gasping at it’s last breath. Wag’s right, we need a new identity, a new rallying point, a new Party.

How will we make progress when the face of the GOP has a “wide stance” for gay marriage, and gay rights? When the Party says WE must reach out to “special” interests, and not the other way around. When our platform’s only reference to illegal immigration is secure the borders (as if), and then we can work out the details. When we have NOT ONE Senator or Representative who will put forth a proposal to return the issue of Abortion to the States?

Nope. We might field a candidate that can be elected. But, that candidate won’t be a Conservative, just a Republican.

I stand corrected.

I too, hope that we can turn things around in the next elections, but after the last debacle, I'm not quite sure about the good sense of the American voter.

The GOP can be saved IF someone (Palin and Jindal are the ONLY possibilities I can think of) steps forward and makes a speech like this one that Ronald Reagan made at the 1975 CPAC Convention:

Ronald Reagan: Let Them Go Their Way

I was at an anti-abortion demonstration a couple of weeks ago, and there were a number of brave women just standing silently on one side of the street holding signs that said “I regret my abortion.” It took a lot of courage for them to go out there publicly with it and it must have been quite painful.

I think Project Rachel also works with men who have come to the realization of what they have done. When you’re young and “everbody’s doing it,” it’s hard not to just shrug and go along.

The abortion issue is

1% about “keeping it legal”
and
99% about [insistent screech]”I had a right to do what I did! I did! I did! You HAVE to accept that!”[/screech]

Imagine the burden on these women.
God forgives - even if you can’t forgive yourself.

I’ll tell you what the abortion movement is, it is the largest, most racist, most violent mass murder movement in the history of the world.

ONE BILLION babies have been murdered worldwide less than a century, ONE MILLION more are being murdered each week and Zero is giving the abortionists a blank check to kill as many more as they possibly can.

No, I think a new party will fracture the center-right vote, and condemn us to minority status for as far as the eye can see.

You might be right about one thing, perhaps the country has changed substantially from those harrowing days of the mid seventies...but this is all the more reason why the center-right coalition must remain united. Staying unified is our only chance of victory over those who want to destroy our beloved Republic.

This is not another Whigs reprize, where the anti-slavery whigs and democrats bolt their respective parties and form the Republican party. Destroying the GOP would split the center-right vote, while the d-Rat party would remain for the most part intact.

Instead of citing the Whigs example, a better historical analogy for busting up the Republican Party could be found in what happened to the Democrats in 1860 when they splintered among three parties, causing that coaliton to lose to the unified party founded at Ripon, Wisconsin.

Fracturing the base is a sure-fire recipe for disaster in a dangerous world.

There is no way to explain some of the provisions of FoCA

that can be anything other than encouragement for more abortions.

I’m not sure how ANYONE can defend it.

I am inclined to agree with you but it will only work if someone emerges as the true leader of the GOP (the way that Reagan did in the mid to late 1970s). Ronald Reagan brought Democrats to the GOP because he appealed to their core values NOT by promising them to make the GOP “Democrat Light.”

I’m not sure how ANYONE can defend it.

Simple, they place no value on human life. Once someone has sold their soul to Satan, ever-increasing evil becomes easier to embrace.

One thing that I’ve observed is that post-abortive women who vehemently justify their “right to choose” will attempt to ignore or deny the most heinous aspects, like “partial birth abortion”.

They can’t really come out and say that it’s OK to deny healthcare to an accidental abortion survivor, or that it’s OK to deliver a baby most of the way, kill it, then remove it,

but if they step up and say those things are wrong, it’s a slippery slope back down to the point where what they did was evil and wrong.

So, they’d rather deny that it happens, or ignore any evidence that it does.

I’ve seen the very same thing. I believe that nearly all post-abortive women are eventually brought face-to-face with the truth of their actions. But up to that point, many will remain in a state of denial and flatly refuse to even consider that what they have done is wrong.

I have come to understand that the most loving thing we can do is tell them that what they have done IS wrong and that killing one’s own child is among the gravest of sins and also telling them that God’s forgiveness IS ALWAYS available to them.

Yes, I think you’re right. I think it could be easier to unite the party in 2012 because of the dismal performance of the white knight(McCain) of the moderate wing of our party being so thoroughly rejected and repudiated. This electoral drubbing could help clear the way for a bonafide Conservative to bring the party together in the next Presidential election.

The two front runners (Palin and Jindal) are linked to the Conservative wing of the party, and many pundits are saying that they are the odds on favorite to be the standard bearers for the GOP in 2012.

Ronald Reagan, on the other hand, was faced with a burgeoning mushy moderate middle in the party that forced him, in the name of party unity, to ask former POTUS Gerald Ford to join him on the ticket as Reagan’s VP. Ford instead pushed Reagan to bring Reagan’s other political nemesis in the GOP primary, Bush41, to balance out the ticket.

Hopefully we can unify the party without putting a ticket balancing moderate on the ticket. And, yes, I think we can.

I was only 13 in 1980, but I completely remember the Reagan Revolution. However, what I don’t remember are any names being pushed for VP other than Ford and GHWB. Were their any conservatives that would have worked as Reagan’s running mate?

The one positive of Reagan picking Bush over Ford was that it kept Kissinger out of the picture. The downside was that Bush was given a clear path to 1988 and the “read my lips” disaster that followed. Had Reagan gone with Ford, Ford would have certainly retired with Reagan and Reagan could have groomed a real conservative for 1988.
