Isn’t that convenient? Just in time to provide cover for Pres. Obama, ABC discovers that closing Gitmo isn’t so easy. Downright sticky, actually.

Introducing a segment by chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross on GMA today, weekend co-anchor Bill Weir set the tone.

Think about this, folks.

The President and Congress get excellent, taxpayer protection from terrorists. They have security details, shelters, aircraft, etc all situated to protect them.

The average American has nothing but what they themselves put in place.

So where is the risk to going soft on terrorists by the President and Congress?

None!

If an attack happens, the President and Congress can use the opportunity to look like great leaders and tough-as-nails.

Since the President and Congress will control the after-the-fact investigation, they will also be rendered blameless for the “hole” in our security, giving them the opportunity to “protect America” with new legislation that deprives us of more rights.

In the end, the only people who pay the price are ordinary citizens...with their lives, their money and their rights.

I would really like to see daily "mini-profiles" of the remaining 200 detainees at GITMO.

Or better yet, Topps or Fleer could release special sets of trading cards. Each card could contain vital stats, and where they're likely headed to after GITMO is closed.

I've suggested to my liberal alumni that they be sent to Seattle, Portland, SF, and Chicago, places where they would fit right in. They were clearly not amused by my remarks.

Gonna be interesting, isn’t it? If he offers them to other countries they won’t take them. Those who will take them will either release them or torture them. If we bring them into the US we will be obliged to try them, which will be a true sideshow Obama won’t be able to control. Every choice other than leave them at Gitmo will backfire in the worst possible way.

U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) said that Ft. Leavenworth is an "unacceptable site" for Gitmo's detainees.

"Some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world are at Gitmo," Roberts said. "Only one wing of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Ft. Leavenworth meets maximum security requirements, and it's far too small for even a handful of detainees. Detainees require their own hospital and medical care, religious spaces, courtrooms, and even recreation facilities. Plus, there's no support facilities for the several thousand guards needed and their families."

Of course we can send them via taxi through the streets of Kansas City to the hospital when they are sick. I'm beginning to think that the political rhetoric and attitude of Obama to get elected is going to be exposed quickly now that he actually has taken the oath of office, twice no less.  Now that he has to actually perform, I think he'll discover Bush policy has it's merits.  It will be very interesting to see how The Emperor who Has No Clothes spins this.

Yet they will STILL bash Bush about Gitmo.

They will do a similar thing with national healthcare. Just as with their retirement plan, only common peons will receive their healthcare through whatever mess our “betters” cobble together. The elites will have an entirely different system.

The Shrillary plan wouldn’t have even allowed commoners to go outside the system and pay out of their own pockets if they could because that would just be so unfair.

Again we pay the price for the "no comment" policy of Republicans over the last 8 years. Dems were allowed to trash everything about the administration and the Congress with no more than a whimper in defense. Now, the Dems can adopt the exact same stance as Bush and make out like it is an original observation - all their own idea.

They screamed about the injustices of Gitmo and called for its closure. Did anyone ever ask them to come up with their own plan for closing it? No, all they had to do was be outraged and the sheeple followed them adoringly. No tough questions about where to send the detainees, how to try them, etc.

So, suddenly they are discovering that it may be a difficult task. Where do they send them? Hmmmmm, like no one wondered that when Bush was in charge. He was just supposed to get it done.
