Gore Losing the War: 59% Don't Believe Man Is Warming the Planet By Noel Sheppard Created 2009-01-19 13:28

He won an Oscar and a Nobel Peace Prize, but a recent poll suggests the Global Warmingist-in-Chief Al Gore is losing his propaganda war to convince Americans carbon dioxide is destroying the planet.

In fact, the number of people who believe that long-term planetary trends are responsible for the relatively small increase in temperatures in recent decades rose ten percent since last April while those viewing it as a man-made problem have decreased by six percent.

Talk about your inconvenient truths!

This has got to be bad news for a man that has bet his reputation as well as his very fortune on people buying into his junk science. As reported [1] by Rasmussen Reports Monday:

Forty-four percent (44%) of U.S. voters now say long-term planetary trends are the cause of global warming, compared to 41% who blame it on human activity.

Seven percent (7%) attribute global warming to some other reason, and nine percent (9%) are unsure in a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. [...]

In April of last year [2], 47% of Americans blamed human activity versus 34% who viewed long-term planetary trends as the culprit. But the numbers have been moving in the direction of planetary trends since then.

On the eve of the inauguration of a president that has bought this nonsense hook, line, and sinker, we can only hope Congress is paying attention to how the electorate feels about this issue.

Stay tuned.

As I told someone whose face looked like I had just told her I ran over her puppy when I told her that the global avg temperature had fallen in the last 10 yrs:

don’t lose hope, they’ll invent another global crisis as cover to implement the real goal of global socialism.

Actually, I hope polls are never used regarding matters of science (this also goes for the IPCC consensus, AKA a glorified poll). As a system, this approach may suite our needs here and now, but cannot be counted upon to do so otherwise.

The science here is not so complicated that it cannot be properly explained to those who set policy. The problem is that most of those who found their way into a position to be the ones doing the explaining (to political staff) are themselves largely political - not scientific - creatures. They made their names in the arenas of policy, public relations, and media presentations. To them, the raw science is only useful where it fits a pre-made political template. Hell, most are “science advisers” regarding matters perhaps only tangentially related to their erstwhile professional research careers.

The end result is that the same bad science which directly informs political leaders also directly and indirectly informs the general public. You will find most lay people to be extremely flexible in what they accept as “scientific fact”, and this will be reflected in how readily the masses can shift their opinions despite no significant change occurring over the actual scientific landscape serving as a supposed foundation.

If popular sentiments shift in the next 12 months, I don’t want to be found arguing in favor of our own political execution (”we should follow the polls!”).

The Gore Effect.

The phenomenon that leads to unseasonably cold temperatures, driving rain, hail, or snow whenever Al Gore visits an area to discuss global warming. Hence, the Gore Effect.

You are ALL missing the REAL story here:

Starting on November 5, the Obamessiah decreed that his herds of freshly-conjured, rainbow-farting unicorns would halt the rise of the oceans, etc., etc., etc.

SHEESH!!!! Don’t y’all know ANYTHING?

At least you got some sort of indication that they comprehended your argument. I usually am treated to the "glassy-eyed stare"... like I'm speaking ancient aramaic, or something.

Both candidates were equally stupid in this regard. Also, if Congress continues with their globull warming crap, the electorate may turn on them, and I hope that does happen.

Happened back in September, still ongoing.

That would be the 59% of the population with enough functioning neurons to notice that they are freezing to death. The other 49% are at the Obama Coronation.

49%+59%=108% COOL! Americans are the best!

It's irrelevant how many citizens believe, or don't believe.

It's the 0.001% who are in charge of things that count.

A few hundred in the US, some in the EU, and the UN decide if it's real, and it will take serious force to undo the damage once they get the AGW ball rolling globally.

AGW is, in my humble opinion, merely a proxy for “global socialism”. When I hear that “we must address climate change now or face climate disaster”, I hear “we must convert the global economy to a socialist or communist model immediately”.

Or the polar bears will melt.

That’s what I was thinking as I wrote it.

Nothing like a “global financial crisis” to get people to accept global socialism...

So there is intelligent life on this planet after all.

I am wondering if a large percentage of those that have changed their mind are the people that are dealing with all these freezing temperatures. Nothing like a deep freeze to change one's mind about global warming. FOTFLOL

About the same percentage that doesn't buy evolutionary theory.

There's hope for this country yet.

Actually, I suspect a large percentage of those who have "changed their minds" are the people who simply don't give a flaming sh!t about silly fads like this when the sobering reality of economic challenges hits them square in the face like a well-aimed two-by-four.

I got some surprising good news a couple of weeks ago at a professional conference I attended where "climate change" was one of the key issues. The guy who is in charge of implementing all of these stupid "climate change" initiatives in the state where this conference was held was one of the keynote speakers, and he wasn't very optimistic at all.

He basically warned all of the people in the audience that they had no more than 12-18 months to implement whatever it is they intend to do, because after that the public is going to lose interest and find something else to be concerned about.

I've been in a very good mood since then.
