It's getting cold in DC. Tomorrow will be even colder. Possibly in the single digits when the DC Freepers man the streets and keep the perps away and down the block. Pray they're able to make it through the night. Sadly, I won't be there. I need to pick the wife up at the airport.
MOAB Slogan Contest Current MOAB has been in use for some time and is starting to show a lot of wear and tear. Time for a new one. Here's our current Son of MOAB as seen in Freep 193. Check out the Original Mother of the MOABs We could put the current slogan on the new one but we'd rather leave it to you to come up with a new phrase. The troops, their families, and the workers at Walter Reed have seen the existing one for some time. Let's change things up. Keep just keep in mind that it must fit on the banner and that it should be pro-troop, that is, something that will inspire and encourage the troops, their families, and the workers at Walter Reed. We would like to unveil the new saying on our 4th Anniversary, which would be Week 208 or April 3. We will announce the winner on that AAR thread. The cutoff for suggestions will be early March (sorry, we don't have an exact date, so just keep 'em coming until we stop posting this in the AARs). The contest judges will be your Walter Reed AAR writers: BufordP, Kburi, Jimmy Valentines Brother, Tom the Redhunter The grand prize will be ... bragging rights!
Honor Roll:
If you can't get to D.C. to join us but would like to do something for the wounded, you can find a wealth of ideas by FReepmailing Tom the Redhunter, Cindy-True-Supporter, VAFlagwaver, or PleaDeal. Come join us every Friday night between the hours of 6:30pm to approx 9:30pm. Directions to our Walter Reed freep location from the Takoma metro station |

DC Chapter pingage
Awww, geez, you guys, God bless you.
You are the very best.
Now I remember how very cold I was...I guess I will still go to the FREEP tomorrow night!
I can’t believe I am saying that. I know you are busy...will miss you!
You are absolute heroes!
My vote like Rat Blago is for sale!
I’ve got your back tonight BufordP
Breaking out the long johns myself.
But we will keep the corners warm and the losers(moonbats) away.
Cold weather gear and hot chocolate tonight, troops.
There will be extra mittens and ski caps if anyone needs them. Also, Doctor Raoul donated to the D.C. Chapter, his box of hand warmers he got at the Chapter Christmas Party. They will be there.
Plea Deal has the hot coffee and hot chocolate covered.
Reminder, don’t get sweaty by having the heat in your car turned up too high, you’ll just get colder quicker when standing on the corner.
See you all there.
[Mr] T
Last time it was this cold out the Molonge House buses stopped at the corner to thank us. I still get a chill down my spine thinking about the applause we received from the wounded troops and their families. Hope we have the same luck, or maybe with it so cold, the bus won't go out and we can leave early.
And just think, Saturday in Olney will be just as cold, but at least it will be light out so we can see each other freezing. :-))
[Mr] T
GOD BLESS all of you DC Chapter Folks, for what you do every week !
V
My heart is always with you guys.
God Bless You all.
Hey, BufordP~
Sorry to hear you won’t be out there. I’ll do my best to help fill in the gap. :)
Blessings.
L~
You all are going to need this. Take mine, I don't need it this weekend.
Nothing would have helped!
I am just home and starting to warm up. It was the coldest air I can remember breathing. Actual temp hovering around 10 and with a light wind to penetrate clothing. Cookies froze as soon as they came out of the car and the cover of my insulated cup froze to the cup, with warm tea still inside!.
It will be a night to remember!
Bless you all!
Thanks from all of the gang for your support.
