Downwind too. That adds to the groundspeed on the water landing.
2 minutes of that four minutes was an eternity for the crew. I wonder how long the passengers had to get ready.
... I wonder if that last @$$hole had hung up his cellphone yet.

I was on the same flight yesterday. Hearing them talk about flight path, it was the same exact path I was looking at out my window just over 24 hours ago. Scary!

The pilot made a sharp 180, lined it up on the river, dodged a general aviation aircraft coming up the river at 1000 feet in the opposite direction, and then apparently ditched it southbound down the river.
Per MSNBC, the plane had no power at that point. That makes the turn and navigation by the pilot even more outstanding.

MSNBC: Reports coming in that *both* engines were out.
FAA saying that everyone got out okay.
Plane being towed downriver for investigation.
Survivor from 22A being interviewed. Says hard impact, had warning to brace before landing.

The pilot is indeed a hero but the airplane will need a bail out.

Technically, they are Canada Geese. They may or may not hold Canadian eggports.
These birds, AKA non-migratory waterfowl, are now considered a pest in GA, and can be dealt with as such. I had to be corrected by a Ga Wildlife dudette for calling them Canadian Geese.
It’s a Catch-22 situation for us. As a pest, we are permitted to SHOOT them to remove them, but we are not permitted to fire a ‘gun’ in our subdivision. (we live on a lake). These things are giant poop machines that awaken way too early.

Per MSNBC, the plane had no power at that point. That makes the turn and navigation by the pilot even more outstanding. Oh that's right, I left that out of my post. Fox News reporting the same... absolutely amazing. The pilot is both a genius and a HERO.
