Book links JFK murder to killing of RFK and MLK

new, heavily researched book on John F. Kennedy's murder and its investigation sees links with a bagful of sensational stories, including the killing of Martin Luther King Jr. The links connect with the main contention in "Legacy of Secrecy/The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination" (Counterpoint, 848 pages, $33), by Lamar Waldron with Thom Hartmann, that the assassination was engineered by Carlos Marcello, longtime Mafia boss in New Orleans.

They all had the means; but the government is the only one that has the full ability to coverup.

You speak of The Government as a large monolithic being instead of a organization comprising of hundreds of thousands of different individuals with differnt motives and beiefs.

An conspiracy of which you speak would be of such proportions as it would involve hundreds of people who:
....never got caught.

.... never whispered a word to anyone.

....never wrote a book, which would make millions nor quoted directly by credible sources.

In other words, the prefect crime.

Or a complete fantasy.

"Maybe; but is it the truth?"

It is one of the strongest murder cases there ever was. There is no doubt about Oswald's guilt. The only thing that makes people doubt it is the 45 years of conspiracists trying to convince people otherwise by misrepresenting the evidence. Just like they try to do now with 9-11.

"He worked at the place the shots were fired from. He owned a rifle. He took it to work that day and used it. His rifle fired the bullets."

All of the points you make are open to debate.

Not really. Not to rational debate anyway. People can make any claim about anything. That's not the same thing as being open to debate.

"For example, when his wife Marina was questioned, she was unable to identify the rifle as Oswald's."

Citation?

"She later changed her testimony in this, as in many other matters."

Marina has consistently said that Oswald did it. Even now, when conspiracists have surrounded her for years and convinced her that something else was going on, she still insists that Oswald did it. Because she was there and she knew the facts, and knew him.

"There's more evidence that Oswald was not the shooter, than evidence that he was."

No there isn't. Show me some evidence that Oswald was not the shooter. Again, someone making a claim is not evidence.

"There is pretty good enhanced photographic evidence (BBC'S ‘The Men Who Killed The Kennedys’’) that another shooter was behind a fence (on the knoll?)"

There is no photographic evidence of a second shooter. "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" is a joke. Worse than a Michael Moore movie. Even the rational and well-informed conspiracists know it is garbage.

I still say it’s our government that did it. They are the only ones that have the means to do it.

Nonsense. For the price of a couple bullets and an unobstructed shot, any nut can shoot a president.

In fact, six nuts have done it.

Yes it is. I think we were lucky to have JFK as president at that time. If Nixon had won the election the Cuban Missile Crisis would likely have turned out very differently.

One phrase, “Bay of Pigs”, the man deserved what he got. Do you know what he did there?

It doesn't have to involve hundreds. If you can manipulate people to do what you want, they can become unwitting parts of the conspiracy.

For example: Oswald, with apparent communist sympathies and ties to Cuba (on the face of it), shoots the President. LBJ sees the communist/Castro connections, fears public opinion demanind war with Cuba and Russia as word gets out. So he enlists Chief Justice Warren and a panel of respected officials to conduct an investigation and write a report pinning the deed on Lee Harvey Oswald.

So you contention is that Oswald shot Kennedy and then the evil government "pinned" the crime on him?

Worst.
Conspiracy.
Ever.

"Never said it was a conspiracy."

You implied it...

"I still say it’s our government that did it. They are the only ones that have the means to do it."

"Probably all tied in; but the government is the only one that had the means to really cover it up."

I’m with you. I was 9 at the time of the assassination and I’ve heard and read nearly every conspiracy scenario that’s out there since. The past few years around November there have been some excellent, well-documented (by that I mean first hand police reports, court testimony, FBI investigation reports of witnesses and every imaginable person that might be connected to the assassination in any way, every known available photo, audio recording and movie-film evidence, even including interviews with Oswald’s still living brother), also using the latest technology to recreate a second by second account of the assassination both visually and audio, and all of the evidence points conclusively, without a reasonable doubt, to the simple truth that Oswald, on his own, murdered President John F. Kennedy.

Sometimes the truth is so simple that people just don’t want to believe it. It’s just too boring that only Oswald did it. People don’t want to believe that the President of the United States could so easily be murdered by some nut-job with a gun. People want to believe that there had to be a conspiracy - It couldn’t have been this simple!! Thus, we’ve had reams and reams of books written on this supposed “conspiracy” be hundreds of authors, some well-intentioned, some out and out crackpots, and most just trying to make a buck.
