Nassau police have charged a Roslyn Heights woman with assault, saying she bit a Roslyn High School teacher after officials suspended a basketball game because rowdy fans rushed the court.
Shaquana Beamon, whose brother George Beamon is a Roslyn star player, is due in court tomorrow to face a felony assault charge, court records show. Beamon, 20, of Linden Court, who said yesterday she is seven weeks pregnant, posted $350 bail after her arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.

She was upset for missing the Best Buy riot!
“...no kids named “Shaquana” then.”
Those Amish are a hoot. < sarc >
Why do they put “Long Island” between the city and the state for places on Long Island? Is there some reason for this, or is it just policy?.............
San Francisco “values” and now we have LI “values.” God help us.
Because thats where the town is located..??
20 million people live in the NYC area. Its nice to get a little specificity now and then.
I grew up on “Lawn Guyland” (50s/60s), and that’s how we were taught to address our mail.
Shaquana...
Hmmmm..........
Bit a teacher because she thought hitting them was a crime. But apparently biting is not...
I’d bet she’s a product of the public school system. Is there something the government puts in public school food that causes people to permanently “not understand” things?
"Shaquana" is on the list. So is "Wayne".
They don’t say “Buffalo, Upstate, New York”.................
I live in Phenix City, UCLA: the Upper Corner of Lower Alabama.
You don’t want to be the registrar for the town sports association today.
Every mother’s kid is so “special” it makes your head hurt.
For example, there are like 18 ways to spell Megan. With an “h”, without. One “n” or two. “Megan” versus “Meagan.” Even as two words...
One time at Disney World, the gal at the registration had to spend two hours, so when I went to say that’s and said, “Thank you Megan (”MEG-ANN”). She got snippy and said, it’s “Me-Gan”...
I been there!..........
Friend of mine who works in new born area told me the story of this one woman when asked what the baby’s name is she replied: Fee-mal-lee (female) since that’s what was on the tag ... the baby wasn’t named yet ... the mother thought that’s what the baby’s name was supposed to be ....
Long Island isn't a city. It's the geographic name for anything on Long Island that's neither Brooklyn nor Queens.
"They" is me. (Or is "They is I," more correct?)
The stuff in brackets in the thread title is my addition. I added what I did so people from other regions would have some clue as to where this event took place. (I find it annoying that this isn't an FR posting requirement for local stories such as this one.)

A few weeks ago my wife, who works in the Stress Lab at a local hospital, gave tests to a lady whose first name was “Lasagna”. Speled and ponounced just like the food.
She brought a copy of a chart with the name on it home so I could see it.
I know, but I’ve notice dthat even on TV and Radio, whenever a story happens on Long Island, as opposed to, say upstate, they always say “Long Island”, like it’s a separate entity........
*LOL*
